I have recently lost quite a bit of weight, and have been searching for a pair of jeans that fit and are comfortable on my 5'3" slight apple shaped figure. I found some styles and fabric compositions just tend to hug my tummy area (which is definitely the problem area) and look awful. For instance, I have never found a pair of knit jeans that flatter me (but wow are they comfortable) and I have tried many. I was so sick of ordering a specific style, and having to send them back I finally went to Kohl's and started trying on multiple styles and cuts of various jeans (which I hate to do!).

I finally found a pair and wanted to share with all you apple ladies!! It is a pair by Gloria Vanderbilt (I know, I know, I wore her jeans in high school a LONG time ago) - it's called the Amanda classic fit straight leg jean. The pockets are plain in the back, it's a cotton/poly/spandex blend, it's a straight leg without tapering like a skinny jean or flaring like a bootcut, the waist is not too high (sits right under my belly button and I am short-waisted), and the waist is cut larger in this style so NO muffin top! They were $30!!! Yes, $30! They are a great looking, basic jean and I am thrilled to have finally found a pair that look decent! Oh, yes, they come in short, regular, and tall, too! The short fit me perfectly.

Hope this helps others out there who are struggling to find a good fitting pair of jeans. My old jeans I loved were the old D&C modern waist jeans they stupidly discontinued. They had become so big I could pull them up and down without unbuttoning/unzipping them - not a good look.
