topic Quest for a bathrobe (or why this disabled, homebound woman still spends money at QVC) in Fashion

Sometime in the past 6 weeks I described my frustration on this forum with trying to find a 100% cotton bathrobe on QVC after losing my old Stan Herman one in my last move. In another thread someone suggested I try K...'s.com and I did.

In June I bought a soft ones robe I found on QVC.com. It was exactly what I wanted. Soft, long, modest, and easy to put on. But when it was washed not only was there lint, to be expected with 100% cotton chenille, but pieces of the actual fabric that backed the chenille were in the lint filter of both the washer and dryer. Since it was exactly what I was looking for I kept it and used it again hoping it was a one time thing in a new garment. But it wasn't and the second wash/dry had even more backing fabric so back it went. No problem with the return to QVC. The only other option on QVC at the time was a Stan Herman robe that was much more expensive, not as long etc. so I did not buy it.

Someone whose disabled sister used QVC as faithfully as I do, kindly suggested K..l's.com as an option that is working for her sister. The S.H. robe is no longer available in my size so I tried her suggestion. They had a very limited selection in plus sizes. None of their robes were 100% cotton and they were short (I live in a group home with at least one man) not at all what I was looking for. So I tried the huge A site. There was only one robe available in a plus size (which I would have bought if I had $118 to spend on a bathrobe because it was very nice).

I did a web search etc. Still nothing appropriate and affordable in a plus size. I do have 2 very nice robes for lounging, modesty and warmth made of synthetic fibers which are hydrophobic and do not absorb water. I bought them both a QVC long before 2007 and they are beautiful. One is a SH fleece with animal trim and the other, velvet(teen?) with embroidered roses made by CH.

Maybe this decrease in quality is intentionally done so products will not last as long as those made previously and they will increase their profits because we have to buy more often to replace poorly made items. Sounds paranoid but with everything else occurring.....

Hopefully SH or CH will come out with something that works in the next few months and it will be as affordable and of the same quality as the one I am replacing. CH had a robe/chemise set that I considered but while the chemise was lovely and I would have really liked it, the robe got awful reviews and went on clearance I think.

This is why, despite extreme problems with the way QVC treats it customers, declining quality in construction and sizing of clothing, and secretive hidden rules etc. I still shop at QVC!
