GILI prices

Does anyone think the GILI clothing line is just way overpriced? $90.00 for a belt? $150.00 for a dress; 200.00 for a pair of shoes, not to mention the prices of most of the handbags. Is the merchandise worth it?

I agree. I guess they are trying to attract a different demographic, but that belt is definitely over priced and I'm a size 2/4, yet don't see it as 'all that' considering the price. The jacket also would be such a splurge as it really acts as a 'blazer' rather than a typical leather jacket to wear outside. A regular leather jacket can be worn daily, this would seem too obvious to wear with every outfit.

I've never ordered anything GILI, but I just read an article in Newsday about makeovers for teachers headed back to work. Almost nothing they put on the two women was priced as low (!) as GILI is priced, so I'm thinking there's a whole world out there thinking QVC's offerings might be priced right.

My rare clothing purchases here all from from SGraver and I know she's inexpensive compared to other lines of her quality elsewhere. I also know she costs more than what I could spend, but no, I wouldn't be getting her low cost per wearing.

Maybe that's how GILI works, too?

I like some of the GILI options in theory. I have 2 Roma 2 bags that are good quality. I have gotten some items that I had to return because I didn't think the quality was there. Yes, I think they are going after a much younger demographic, but you can go out and find better quality (the camo pant for example) in the stores. Sometimes I am willing to the price simply because I don't want to traipse in and out of store fitting rooms or deal with gas prices

I crack up when I see that belt (and the price!) because that is known as a "scrap project" in the leather business.

I agree with you about prices. You go to Talbots, Ann Taylor, and their clothes are expensive, more than Gili. However, they do have sales, and you can get a rather expensive item for much less. Gili is pricing their merchandise about the same as those stores I mentioned or Nordstrom.

the pricing of these items is not necessarily the problem per se. it's the not being able to try them on first to see how they look and what size to buy.

with qvc, you get what you order plus you are paying s&h. if it doesn't work out for you then you have the hassle of returning and all that entails. sometimes it's just not worth it. i know it isn't for me.
