A pair of silk palazzo pants and a coordinating silk or like silk top, gold bangle

bracelet and gold flat sandals!! Have fun!

I don't care whether it's a joke or not. I just spent a delightful time with my friend, Google, and while we didn't come up with a one-and-only answer, it was nice to dream.

See, I'm channeling Amal Clooney and thinking she would wear some sort of simple top (all these clothes must be of quality fabrics, of course!), with some drapey, slightly flowy pants, and over that, if one chooses, maybe a simple wrap jacket. The jacket could be worn alone over the pants. No jewelry unless you are in the habit of wearing something 24/7.

Ciao. And tiaras are always optional.

p.s. @surfk, you spent a lot of time crafting that scenario. I do hope you saved it for yourself before deleting!

Its not a joke at all. I removed the post because perhaps it might be too much for some people.

But some of us do indeed do certain things in a particular manner.

I don't know why you'd think it was a "joke". (Should I send you postcards when I'm there?).

I could re-post it but not if the objective of my dilemma is criticized for its credibility. I can ask it elsewhere.

I actually even hestitated to post it since I know its not the typical QVC experience perhaps. I am a fortunate person and sometimes it can be tricky to share more of one's life when one reads or sees how others are sometimes struggling.

But then, we each lead different lives. Its not for someone else to say what's on someone else's itinerary of life or not. lol.

I still have the original post. I only removed it because I already knew it could be either misconstrued or not taken seriously. Its a problem when one's fashion dilemmas extend out of the box of what's typical. I know.

I only decided to post it as something more fun to ask of a group and NOT to in order to have to turn over my passport to verify its veracity. lol

I was thinking a silk wrap-style thing. Maybe palazzo pants suit. I'm not a maxi person.

surfk, having never been to an ultra high-end hotel OR Italy, your post was very descriptive... I felt like I was there! And it sounds like ELEGANCE is the name of the game you're talking about. Whatever you wear, be it simple or not, it sounds like it would need to be elegant... and I agree, of course the tiara should always be an option! Hope you enjoy your trip!

BTW, I'm sorry you felt the need to take it down. I seldom question posters about the veracity of what they say. I take them at their word for what they post... if it isn't true, I'll probably never know and it probably served some purpose for them.

surfk, believe it or not, I don't think your question is unusual. We've traveled in a few countries in Europe and have stayed at some very nice hotels, along with smaller inns and a rental apartment (which solves the problem, obviously).

I, too, prefer to eat breakfast before getting ready for the day. But no matter where I am, I am a tourist. I don't know anyone, and no one knows me. I will be presentable, but I dress for comfort, not for matching any particularly environment, and that's that.

They'll never see me again.

Depending on your taste, you might be pleased with some of the Lisa Rinna pieces.

There is wrap #A262992 that could double as a robe and could be worn with leggings (if you wear those - I don't) or instead some softer pants down to breakfast.

I own this next jacket A262908. It's very soft and could be tossed on over anything if it's not too warm that morning. I like it best unzipped.

I don't know if I like (but you might) the layers on this next vest, but I like the proportions. If you like the idea, you could find something similar to put on even just over what you slept in (I know, I know, what you slept in would have to be clean-lined and not wrinkled - maybe French terry pants?). Anyway, you would not have to wear anything underneath if you put the vest on over the top. A 265401

None of these are absolutes, but maybe an idea of lines (I mean dimensions/proportions) for the breakfast outfits. No jeans, I think.

Think casual elegance. (I was going to bold the phrase, but it might not be "casually elegant" to do so.)

That first Rinna piece looks like it could be easy and simple enough to dress up quickly in the morning. It would certainly perhaps be enough to make it simple but simple enough as to be pulled together. I suppose a slow-slung Fiorucci belt with it might even work.

I find I have to clarify just a bit. When I said you wouldn't have to wear anything under the vest, I meant undergarments. You would be wearing something like a t-shirt or similar top and put the vest over that! I can't be responsible for you being too risque!

Seriously, I see your point. Do you think a few pretty but elegant dresses and sandals, some good earrings and a slick of lipstick would mass musters? That's what I would wear. I figure a dress looks like you tried more than pants.

Well, hmmm, maybe pearls are in order.

I do like gardensia's dress idea. It's just that if you're anything like me, you haven't worn a dress for years. (Although why I think you're like me is kind of mind-boggling! Anyone going to Italy for weeks on end is living a very different life than I am.)

Although I still think casual elegance can take you anywhere. I wouldn't go all baroque just because of the surroundings. You are after all (I think I am safe in saying) a modern woman and not a woman such as you described earlier who wore the tiara.

I hope the grounds, if any, are equally as glorious.

What a wonderful position to be in - deciding on a wardrobe to fit into elegant surroundings for what promises to be quite an autumn.
