I just couldn't find our thread under this new system, so I decided to try and start it again. If we find it, we can always go back.

Hope you are recovered from your trip, Barbara, and that your day is going well so far. You said something about DH's DGD being an elite soccer player, but I don't know if that is the case. She only started last year (I think), and she still spends a lot of time dancing. But, she may indeed be into soccer more than I realize. I know that her grandfather was worried about injuries, and she certainly had a big and unusual injury. I think her Mom is open to her continuing to play once she recovers.

Hi Claudia -- hope things are going okay there, and your doggies aren't giving you too much trouble, and R and Adam are okay.

DH and I had our walk early, and I have the strong bones workout later this morning and Curves this afternoon. I did not do that one machine at the gym yesterday, and my knee wasn't as sore last night. Maybe that was part of the problem.

Thanks for starting the thread. I searched for a while also. Thank goodness I am pretty good with technology because the format is going to take some type to adap to. I am getting packed for the trip tomorrow. I t is going to be both warm and cold so will need to pack accordingly. Our weekend was great..syd took good care of her little cousins. Vyrn wanted to keep her for the summer. Lol. Linda, I thought she had played soccer for a while. No one plays very well in the level sydnie plays at, but she has some good bruises. Glad the machine change seems to help. Claudia hope your day is going well. I will be back later.

Thanks for starting a new post, Linda. My this is a strange format.

TT is at the groomers. It seems she will stop grooming large breed dogs as she only has one assistent and can't find more. I will be scheduling the other 2 dogs asap before this happens. She knows of no other groomers in the area who do the large breeds.

It's in the 90's here.

Good luck packing for tomorrow's trip, Barbara. I guess you will be wearing layers. I'm sure Syd was a great help with her cousins. No wonder your son wanted to keep her for the summer.

That is too bad about the groomer, claudia. It sounds like you may have to drive further. I have decided to do a carryon, in addition to the checked bag. My sil sent the plans and there is no time for laundry. Plus, v can add some things to our carry one. I will use our vb bags for plane necessities. It is a slow process today...I need a new body.

You and me both. I tripped maybe over my own two feet and landed sprawled on the dining room floor. In front of Adam, the dogs, and Rod. Griff was concerned and Adam had to pull him off so I could scoot to the steps and get up.

It's a good idea this time to check a bag and have a carryon.. I will have to start checking but we may need to drive up to 60 miles to find a groomer for TT. He is not cooperative when it comes to his hindquarters.

Sorry about your fall and the need to take the dogs to a far away groomer, Claudia. It is always something.

DD just texted me that their truck had to be towed to the garage -- something with the brakes or brake line. Hope it can be repaired quicklyand does not cost too much.

Sorry about DD's truck, Linda. I put funds in Adam's acct. so he can pick up his truck tomorrow. Then of course he has to get it inspected after he gets his lost registration card replaced.

Good Morning! Hope your trip is going well, Barbara. Sounds like another busy time for you. I don't think I could keep up with all your traveling. I do enjoy traveling, but it always takes me time to gear up and then get back to normal.

Hope Adam's truck is fine now, Claudia, and he gets the registration replacement, etc. DD texted me that it was the brake line on the truck, and it will be repaired tomorrow -- $425. I think we are pretty much in the same boat -- "bank of Mom", except you have two kids, and I just have one. Lucky that we have enough money to help, but..... Hope the dogs and R are okay today.

It was very hot yesterday (105 at least), and they are predicting even higher temperatures today and the rest of the week. Yikes! I really pity anyone whose AC is broken or who has to work outdoors in this weather. I am drinking water like crazy just trying to keep hydrated.

DH's daughter called last night, and they will be going to talk to the surgeon today. She said his DGD is doing better, but of course,once she has the operation she will need to go through recovery again. Hope the surgery can be scheduled soon.

We have the senior lunch program today, and then the gym this afternoon.

We arrived safely and are enjoying Greenwich. I ended up with too much stuff..snacks and things for sydnie. I am going to unpack shortly. Linda, it looks very warm in az. Claudia hope Adams truck is good.now. More later

Glad you made it to Connecticut okay, Barbara. It is always like that -- you end up with too much or too little.

Did I tell you (forgive me if I did) that DH and his late wife lived in Greenwich when he worked in NY city. They moved to the DC area when he got a government job (mid '70's). I know that he really liked Greenwich, but his job in NY city not so much.

Adam slept too long so didn't pick up the truck today. He stayed longer at work to update the next shift.

I'm glad you arrived, Barbara. I know you'll have a great time.

I did quite a bit of grocery shopping this morning. Just mowed the lawn and am quite tired. At least with the cordless mower I don't have to wait for the grass to dry. I should do the dishes but I just don't have the energy.

R is sleeping again. I'm debating waking him or making a run to the store for more coffee.

We sure are in the same boat, Linda.

Knock on wood, Griff has been pretty good.

I'm really not happy with this new format.

Good morning. My Michigan brother did not arrive...their late flight got cancelled. Today is Statue of Liberty day...we have tickets to tour the site. Sydnie is very intrigued by this big house. Linda, I remember you telling me the dh lived here. The prednisone has kicked in so I am very functional. That is nice for a change. I really dislike this new forum set up..it is a visual mess. Claudia..I did not realize that Adam had gone off his meds. Hope that works out for him. Have a good day, both of you.

Sorry your Michigan brother's flight was canceled, Barbara. Hope Syd and you enjoy the Statue of Liberty. I went there on a tour (many years ago), and it was quite interesting. Glad your medicine has kicked in and you are feeling good.

That is a shame about R sleeping so much, Claudia. I can certainly relate, and it is difficult at best. It isn't really funny, but sometimes it amuses me when DH wakes up and has forgotten almost everything. He will ask me where we will be eating lunch, etc. when I have the food of the table right in front of him. He is definitely a sweet man, but this disease is awful.

Hope that Adam takes care of his truck today.

This new format is very difficult for me as well. Guess it does no good to complain, however,

The senior lunch program went well yesterday, and I made it through the gym pretty much unscathed. I needed a few groceries, but we didn't spend too much time outside given the very hot temperatures. It was okay this morning on our walk, but it will be another very hot day here. Today I have my strong bones workout and Curves in the afternoon. I have a video to pick up at the library, and should really stop by to make a donation (tools) at the thrift shop.

DH's DD didn't call last night, but I hope she will do so today since I would like to know when DGD is having her surgery.

Yes it is an awful disease, Linda. Griff hauled a bottle of car cleaner from the cellar, got the lid open and it spilled over the kitchen floor. It took 1 1/2 rolls of paper towels to clean up the soapy mess. I don't think he tried any of it and the container doen't say toxic just eye irritant.

I hope Dh's daughter updates you soon.

Adam got his truck back this morning.

I'm just back from brunch. 4 of us (all former partners) were there. My longest partner didn't make it as her husband had knee replacement surgery and has only been home a few days. Another coworker showed up at Tim Horton's and he came over to chat briefly. Oddly an acquaintance of one of us decided to come over and sit and talk but that was ok.

Barbara, it's great the prednisone finally kicked in. Enjoy your dat. Too bad your brother ended up with a cancelled flight.

Glad you got together with your friends, Claudia.

I think it was last summer (or the one before) when my liquid laundry detergent bottle exploded or something from the heat -- much of the detergent ended up on the floor, and I used a lot of paper towels -- sounds like you had a similar experience. I changed to powder detergent the way.

Good that Adam got the truck. My SIL's truck ended up costing more than expected, but....

The very good news is that the Judge let my DGS get off with no points on his drivers license for his accident. Apparently, the Judge knew him from the community college and was very nice. DD said that DGS was a wreck before he went to court today -- couldn't eat or sleep. Thank goodness he didn't end up with a mean Judge.

Good morning. We are waiting to see if the outdoor graduation is cancelled. It is threatening rain. If so only his parents and grandmother will go. Sydnie was enthralled by the Statue of Liberty. My sibs took her up to the first level . We also saw the new World Trade Center. It is very beautiful we did not do the memorial. Linda...as I have said , you are a saint with your dh. Glad it worked out for dgd. Hope your heard about the surgery. Claudia..I thing griff is going to out do tt. Glad you could meet with your friends. Have a great day.

Why aren't repairs ever less than expected? One of the great mysteries, I suppose.

Glad Syd really liked her visit to the Statue of Liberty, Barbara. Wonder if she is a history buff or becoming one? I think maybe one of my DGS' is interested in the subject, but the others not so much. Maybe DGD, but I'm not sure about that.

What a shame if the outdoor graduation is canceled, so you and others will not be able to attend. On the other hand, graduations can take way too long and be uncomfortable. I imagine there will still be a nice party.

DH's DGD will be having her surgery this afternoon. As I suspected, her Mom ended up going to work after the doctors appointment, so she didn't have time to call until yesterday evening. She sounded pretty stressed, but on the other hand a bit relieved that things will be done so quickly.

They met with the doctor for about an hour, and she provided a lot of information. Apparently, she is a specialist in women's sports medicine, which is good. I was surprised since I know that women are underrepresented in surgery, but she sounds like a very good one and nice. Unfortunately, his DGD will not be able to do much after the surgery -- I think something like six weeks of wearing a brace. And, she can't dance or do other things like that for four months or more. DH's daughter has reluctantly decided to cancel their trip to Germany since it would be right around the time she would be involved in PT, and it would not be good to skip two or three weeks of PT. It is a shame, since they were planning to visit her uncle (late Mom's brother), and some other relatives who haven't seen the kids or at least not for a long time. Maybe next year. His DD was busy trying to re-arrange her schedule, and finally got someone to work part of her shift tomorrow, but she still will need for work for 7 hours. It is difficult for her appointments to be re-scheduled, so she is trying to work as much as possible. But, of course, she wants to be there for her daughter.

Hope you are doing okay today, Claudia, and your dogs are behaving. They certainly keep you on your toes -- yikes.

I hope your weather is good, Barbara. We had rain on the way home from the VA. We stopped for lunch at an Olive Garden. We both feel very tired. 2 more dental appts. scheduled between now and September plus i scheduled prior. He will need a partial.

Like kids dogs know when you're wiped out and at the end of your rope. That's when they seek out trouble. The Va gave R a year or so ago a device to help him hear the tv better. He left it within reach. Griff ran out the back door with it. I retrieved minus the foam earpieces, then found one. Can't wait till R gets the new door on and puts the storm door back up. As it is any dog outside can just push it open and I have to close it. I considered getting the doorway screen I've seen advertised but soon realized Griff would latch on to it.

I did not have much patience riding up to the VA this morning listening to some of R's absurd prejudices. I try to let it flow past me but sometimes...

Linda, I hope all goes well with the surgery this afternoon. I know DH's daughter would prefer to take off work and be there but sometimes it just doesn't work out. It's too bad the Germany trip is postponed but travelling would be a real hardship.

The husband of one the co-workers I brunched with came down with a rare throat cancer. Had surgery last fall but needs further. It's been delayed till fall because he had a heart attack in February.

I suspect I'll go to bed early.
