Horrible reviews on items, remind me of the bashing of this forum!!!

I aways take the reviews on items with a grain of salt. And after reading all the complaining and people quitting the forum because of the new format make me think that maybe alot of reviews on items are just written by people that just love to be up in arms over any little thing.

Just my observation. What do you think??

I check both negative and positive and weigh them out.If there is more negative than positive I trust that as probably not a good item.I have bought stuff with glowing reviews and not liked it though....just trying to save money on returns and also avoiding the too many returns letter.

I think I'm qualified to sift through reviews and make a judgment. If someone doesn't like something I analyze why. Do they not know 100% cotton will shrink? Do they not know most Honora pearls are dyed? Do they not know rayon isn't a particularly durable fabric? What I'm looking for the most is sizing opinions and results when something comes out of the washer and/or dryer. Shoes? I'm looking for sizing and quality construction.

Now for the boards. I've gotten to the point I can do what I did on the old boards, including clicking on my name in red above to find answers to questions I've posted. As far as the hearts and bread crumbs go, I just don't care. But the boards are a big thing in some of our lives, its been my form of relaxation for years, living alone in the woods with a husband that works out of town. Some people have serious problems and have found invaluable support here. I hate to see them lose that because this place is now so darn complicated.

It is hard to know the frame of mind of product reviewers but it is very clear on these boards that certain posters dislike just about everything. Their views are grain-of-salt worthy in my mind. I had hoped that the new format might weed out some of them but I'm sure that is wishful thinking.

I'm actually fine with people critiquing any and every line, but there are posters who seem to relish raining the parade of others -- especially those lines and products with loyal followings like Linea, Isaac, Logo and WEN. Why are these human storm clouds compelled to watch QVC and post on these boards everyday? It would be interesting to know what they are like in real life (or maybe not).

Maybe the quality of the items have gone downhill - just like the new setup of this board. I used to love checking this board daily - to answer questions and keep in touch. Hope the people in charge realize that this new format stinks!!!!!!

I still don't know how to find my responses. Maybe, by accident, it will land in my lap.

It would be nice if there is one word at the top of the page that we need to click - to see our posts.

I am sure many are frustrated with having to learn all over again....the old boards went smoothly for so long....now we have to search for forums we want....posts we have written...etc etc....eventually those who are so angry will adjust...each day becomes a little easier...

I don't like the fact that an item can be reviewed without purchase. How can u review an item before trying it on? I have purchased items with low reviews and loved them and purchased highly reviewed items and returned them. Style is such a personal thing that depends on your body's design.

There are an awful lot of people that like to complain, but then again, I say the best policy is to let people express and then it is up to you to critically analyize....because there are just as many people that complain about complainers. Ummm, everybody wants to be heard.

There is someone who follows me from review to review marking it as "unhelpful". Very stalker-ish and unpleasant.

I've read reviews that are clearly all about vitriol rather than products.

Since Q does not verify purchases from reviewers, I notice some negative reviews are from those who did not buy the item because of color, size, other other reasons. It's easy to disregard those reviews.

I'm more leary of 5 star reviews for items that have been discussed on the board or purchased by me that had quality problems like broken zippers or size of the garment or shoes not matching up with posted sizing info used to place orders. I've read on the forum some customers admit to highly rank items despite broken zippers, sizing issues or other quality issues for fear that the item will not be reordered or possible negative impact on the vendor.

Rather than the actual number of stars for ranking which is highly subjective, I find the most useful reviews are those that contain specific details like "zipper broke upon trying on the new jacket" or the "the item sizing runs big, size down for better fit".

ITA but Q allows non purchasers to post reviews-they need to shore up the process to link a reviewer with the item as being purchased.

I'm glad for reviews with specifics & warning posts in this forum. If you read multiple reviews listing concerns about broken zippers, improperly sewn in zippers--that's a red flag. You should anticipate issues if you order-either upon receipt or after using it

I don't put much weight in reviews that don't say specifically what's wrong with the product, or conversely what is good about it. Sometimes somebody's negative might be a positive for me - QF shirt wasn't sparkly enough - would be a plus for me. Also, something being too big in the chest or too tight in the hips for one reviewer, I think hey, that might work for me. But if the majority of the reviews point out the same thing, like zipper issues, then I figure it's a legitimate issue. Also a big beef for me is people witing glowing reviews of products they haven't received yet! "I just know I'm going to love it." I think some pople give 5 star reviews hoping they will get shown on TV.

About the boards - I am amazed at the number of posters who say they never watch QVC, never buy from QVC, don't like any of the hosts, don't like any of the products, but they are on here every day complaining about everything! Seems the absolute epitomy of not having a life.

It makes me giggle when the SAME reviewer begins several reviews with a statement like "This is the WORST_______ I've ever seen in the History of Time!"
Guessing that such a person's grasp of comparative and superlative language is a little shaky.....

I always think people are more inclined to write a bad review than a good one, so as to warn others that they could be making a mistake buying an item.

I try to be objective and address issues like quality, sizing, and how the item actually looks on a person of my height and weignt. But sometimes you can't help adding a bit of snark if the item is a big disappointment.

I want the true QVC buyer to be specific for those are the most helpful reviews. I want to know if something runs big or small, long or short, how the fit is. I usually skip those who give vanilla responses that are not helpful. I want to know why the item is liked or not liked. Take Sketchers for example. I love their GoWalks but I have a very difficult time finding a pair that fits. I appreciate those who post whent he shoe runs wide, long or short. I am on the narrow side of medium so those reviews are of benefit to me. I have problems in the b & m stores as well with that brand so it is not just a Q problem but a company one. I do agree that one needs to be a purchaser of a QVC item to post the said review.
