Why Do Hosts Need QVC Facebook Customers Pick Out.......

their outfits lately for weddings? Now Mary Beth is getting into the act asking people to go to her Facebook page and pick out which dress she should wear to her son's wedding. There are 4 choices. Give us your vote! Which dress gets your YES! Then she said "this weekend I'm going to let you choose my shoes and then I may even let you choose the dress for the Grooms dinner, we'll see I have to figure that out if I really want you to, you know I say should I or shouldn't I". Really? Don't you think it should be your own personal preference especially since it's such an important occasion in your life. You should be able and WANT to pick out your own dress and shoes and not take a survey on Facebook on what you should wear. What's going on with these hosts lately, they need people THEY DONT EVEN PERSONALLY KNOW pick out what they should wear? Don't they have their own minds and/ or family members or friends who know them help them if they need help? I really like Mary Beth and to tell you the truth, I was quite surprised that she would do this. Now Courtney was another story but Mary Beth? I just don't get it.

People like to be asked their opinion, and like to give their opinion. It's a friendly sort of exchange, no doubt meant to garner a sense of familiarity and friendship. Marketing.

It's just for the QVC audience. I'm sure Mary Beth will choose a dress SHE wants, not a dress that QVC posters want her to wear. It's just silly. It's similar to when that host got married and the ran a choose this and choose that for her wedding......it was just a silly game. There must be an element that likes that type of silly foolishness but I don't know any of those people.

They like to ask opinions from people that they don't personally know? C'mon that's ridiculous, it's personal preference, you put the dress on and you know which one looks the best on you. It's her sons wedding not a dinner date with friends! If you need an opinion for such an important occasion in your life, as I stated, how about consulting your husband, family or friends who know you?

I'm sorry if you think I'm complaining, I just don't get it. Tell me if you were getting married would you post several wedding dresses on Facebook and ask people to pick which one you should wear? I doubt it very much.

Just as other posters have stated, QVC wants their hosts to keep people engaged. That's also why several of the hosts ask for you to "like" their FB page.

Consider the fact that Mary Beth already picked out her dress for the wedding, one of the four choices she showed. She asked for "votes" but I'm sure she would not wear a dress she didn't like or felt comfortable. She gets hundreds of responses, and still wears the one she was always going to wear (the "winner"). No harm, no foul, it's just the age of social media & retail.

Mary Beth can and will wear the dress she selects as it should be. The hosts are being told to engage the viewers because it makes some feel like friends in a real life setting. Sad, but true. I imagine some of the hosts do not like it, but it is what they have to do. By the way, I looked at the dresses, and would not have chosen any of them. She can do much better.

I agree that it's silly. It seems QVC looks to see who is having the next wedding and then milks it for all it's worth. I have no desire to see or hear anything about Angel's wedding. Why on earth they think they should clue us in on all the details is beyond me.

That's all it is, if you aren't interested, don't participate, no big deal, IMO. And yes, LR did do this type thing all the time, as it was discussed on these forums. I don't go to any FB pages or even their blogs here as I'm not interested in their personal lives, but lots of folks are, so it doesn't bother me in the least.

I don't think any of the hosts "need" the advice in the same way you might ask a sister or a friend for advice. This is a business thing - every bit the same as an announcer on CNN asking you to post your opinion on Twitter or even the same as asking you to vote for The Voice you want to win the contest.

Media outreach is what currently works in all kinds of situations, and I find it ironic that someone who comes to post here (and, in effect, looks for others who agree with her opinion, doesn't understand the power in simply asking someone to enter a group.

BTW- should any of MBR's people see this, I wish her well as she becomes a mother-in-law -- no matter what she wears to the wedding.
