If the daughter wanted her mom to attend, she'd invite her. I don't think it's customary, but there's no reason why it wouldn't be OK - as long as the bride actually wants it. Moms can sometimes be guilty of "dad dancing", which is a mortal sin as far as some offspring are concerned.

My DD had 3 bachelorette parties...one with college friends in CA, one with other friends in a resort in Mexico, and finally one with friends in Chicago. I was invited and went to the last one. I actually didn't want to go because I thought she might really not want me there. However, when I offered to sit out at least the last part, she was almost insulted. She and her friends are in their thirties, so there weren't really any inappropriate activities, but there was drinking. Because of my childhood, I am not comfortable being around a lot of drinking. I do have one or two, but that's it for me. My Son-in-law's big family are all big social drinkers....not that there is anything wrong with that...but it's just not for me. All this to say, yes, mothers are invited to these parties. His mom attended, too. I remember several bachelorette parties DD went to over the years, and she would mention the MOB was there.

Of course it depends on the type of party -- but my view is that the last hooray should be reserved for girlfriends.

It seems that Dads are often best men in the south (never heard of this while living in the north and mid west) and that may be the reason they are invited to the bachelor party. I think these parties are best attended by their peers, not parents.

I, personally, never socialize with my adult children's friends. Often I am invited but I believe that my "children" have the right to behave or speak in whatever way is comfortable for them, with their friends, without "Mommy" being in the mix.

Yes - I never really did super bad stuff that I would be embarrassed for my Mom to see. I was more embarrassed by the way the men in the bars acted when a bus with 25 women poured into the bars. I think this all depends on your Parents and the Kids know how their Parents would react.

I was invited to my daughter's and it was a blast. That was 15 years ago, so at the time I was 46 yr. old. It was not a "wild and crazy" party.....that's not my daughter's style. But we all had a blast.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, no big deal either way. If my DIL's moms had been invited, and I had been as well, I would have gone, although I can't imagine why they would have wanted us there, and apparently they didn't. I personally think bachelor and bachelorette parties are not essential to establishing a healthy, happy married life.

I wouldn't go but that's me, I'm my daughter's mother, not her friend and I would think that is a time with her friends. Many mothers today though are right in the mix with everything their children are doing and if it's O.K. with the child, then I think it's fine.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! No young woman should have to put up with a mother who tries to be one of the girls. Sorry, been there and done that. She's your mother and should act like your mother.

Let your daughters be themselves. My mother always thought she was more fun than me and hung out with us when my friends came over. Even after I was grown and home for a visit if friends came over, there she was. We wanted to talk what was going on in our lives, but no there she was to talk about her. Sorry, but you hit a sore spot with me about this one, so realize I am biased and take it for the grain of salt it's probably worth.

It would depend on the venue and itinerary. Bar-hopping, dancing in clubs, drunken karaoke, male "entertainment" - these are all activities that I have experienced at bachelorette parties, none of which I would care to share with my mother.

However, I have also attended bachelorette parties at country clubs, hotels, and private homes that merely consisted of lunch, clean games, and gifts. At these parties, MOB and other family members were present, and it did not seem uncomfortable or out of place at all.

I've never heard of any of my friends being invited to their DD's!

At one wedding DD was in, the bride invited her 8-yr. old niece who was her "junior bridesmaid." Her heart was in the right place, but her other bridesmaids, most of whom were college friends, were not crazy about it. They drove around in a limo all night, but couldn't really stop at any bars or drink alcohol in the limo. DD's not a big drinker anyway, but she does like to PARTY! They were all back at the hotel before 10 p.m. I think if I were the bride in that situation, I would have a "two-part" evening, dropping junior bridesmaid off before partying on with the rest of my group! I would hope her mom and dad didn't take offense at her not being included in ALL of the Bachelorette party activities!
