Buttons Falling Off!!

I have two of Dennis Basso's animal print cardigans which are lovely. The only problem is that every time I wear them, another button falls off. Where is the quality control? These are not inexpensive items.

There's no excuse for buttons not sewn on properly. I guess it's too late to return? That's what I usually do if possible.

Buttons DO fall off. I am NO seamstress, but my solution when a button comes lose/falls off, IS- sew it back on. Some Basso buttons on reversible jackets ARE annoying, but it doesn't really take very long, and I love wearing them.

I see your point about quality control, but buttons do become loose and fall off. It doesn't take very long to sew them back on.

Sew buttons on as soon as you get an item and they will last longer.

Square buttons are the pits, and I wish they would no longer make them on many designer clothes.

Are the button by chance metal? Metal buttons often cut thread and are difficult to keep in place.

For regular coat buttons, when you sew them back on, sew once then tie it off. Then start another sewing and tie if off. If one comes undone, you will still keep the button on the coat.

For buttons that have four holes, sew two holes and tie off then sew the other two holes and tie it off.

I have been dabbing a bit of clear nail polish to the back side to help with the threads. I have also been resewing the buttons when I first get the item. I just feel more confident in my own securing of the buttons.

If it doesn't clash with the cardigan's style, try sewing them on with dental floss. It's much sturdier than regular thread. If dental floss isn't an option, I'd go the clear nail polish route.

This is SUCH a great tip, I use it all the time! I got it from somebody on here, don't remember who :-) I don't sew, so this works for me. Yes, agree, buttons should not fall off at all. But there are times when I order something and it's the last in my size or whatever, so I use this method and it totally works. Good luck w/your pieces!

Button thread is available in the neutral colors.

Remember the Buttonair? We bought one at a garage sale and it is just great.

On the QC issue: Always comes up. The Q does not inspection all of the eaches. Just a certain number. I placed I worked used the military standard so for a certain number of eaches a certain number was inspected.

Buttons do fall off and as some one said if they are metal they surely will.
