Seen any pretty dresses?

I need a dress to wear to an evening wedding. I looked at them at Nordstrom Rack today and didn't see anything I like. I'm over 65 and like knee length. I kind of like Isaac's

A258471 but would prefer a little more sleeve. Prefer a print but I do like the sleeve on Susan Graver's dress. Doesn't have to be from QVC.

"Pretty" is rather subjective ... for an evening wedding here in NYC, I'd wear a black cocktail dress with glitzy accessories. I'm also over 65.

We're about the same age. I recently had trouble finding a dress. I finally purchased this one at Northstyle. This particular dress comes in other patterns as well as plain colors. The length is 41" so it covers the knee.

I am in need of a dress too for two upcoming weddings, 60 with a pear shape and so hard to find something that is not fitted. I have ordered two from JC Penney and will see how they fit. Stores just don't seem to have a lot of size 16 in stock and the stores I checked had styles that were like a polyester knit, my first thought is I would overheat in them and secondly too fitted.

There seems to be no happy medium out there for something designed for a size 8 who can look good in anything and the others are just plain matronly in navy blue, chiffon or tacky rhinestone trim or glitter.

I also have 2 weddings coming up. I am over 60. I bought 2 pretty dresses (different colors) at Macy's by Ralph Lauren. It is called the "v neck flare dress". I also have an (extreme) pear shape and this fits the bill--really skims over the hips. I got the short sleeve version which has a small shoulder pad which I really like, but it comes in long sleeves also. I will wear a dressy Calvin Klein shrug over it. (The dress is poly however.) Check David's Bridal. They have lots to choose from. This is in the mother of the bride section. I love it.

Kathleen & Dawnie-- thanks for the suggestion but going that dressy isn't necessary. I know "anything goes" these days, but I would not wear black to a wedding. I guess I'm old fashioned. By "pretty" I mean feminine, not an oversized geomentric print, mummy-style gathers, drab colors, odd styling like large dolman sleeves, etc., like I saw at Nordstrom Rack yesterday.

EZshopper--Dress Barn is far from me, but I've been there and thought it was a good place to shop. Maybe they are online; I'll check.

Cottonball, I love that and will check it out! I guess you can tell I'm partial to blue, maybe you are too.

QVCfan, good luck, hope you can find something, maybe a suggestion here will help. Believe me, even size 8's have "stuff" to hide! (Which is why I wouldn't get the Susan G. dress I posted even tho' I like the sleeves.) Sometimes a dress with a jacket or a lightweight jacket helps to smooth things out, but I understand your desire not to overheat.

Turtle-glad you found something. Actually I am going to Macy's in the next few days.

Iwantcoffee and Lola thank you sooo much for taking time to share the pics. Some beautiful dresses there! The Expo dress with the lace top is lovely as is the MOB dress. I am slim but am not willing to go above the knee (they are not as cute as they used to be).

I hope this thread helps others besides me. Some time ago people shared dresses for someone who was searching for a dress; I looked for it but could not find. The suggestions were so great, and I appreciate the help here as well.

You may be able to minimize shopping trips by going to a better-to high end department store with dress departments. I have good luck finding dresses at Nordstrom (the regular store -- not The Rack), Bloomingdale's, and Macy's. Macy's will have more price points, and you may be able to use one of their plentiful coupons on your purchase.

I agree. Dress Barn has a good variety at reasonable prices. I also find and buy dresses at Macy's, but the prices are higher.

Do you have a good consignment shop in your area? I bet you could find dresses there.

Also, our bridal shops all have a "mother of the bride" and "cruise wear" sections, which would have the pretty dresses you are looking for. And if they are "past season" the prices are fabulous.

I found a dress at Macy's, on sale and 20% off too. Also shoes! I have a pearl necklace which will look nice with it. (I am still liking the things I see on Northstyle.)
