What an absurdity! SI includes a "plus sized" swimsuit model. She looks like she wears a size 8, as opposed to the usual skeleton covered with skin.

I applaud Sports Illustrated. THis model actually looks like an average American woman. She also looks like she wears a size larger than a size 8 to me.

This comes up all the time and I can't figure out why. Plus size models are not and have never been plus size women. Professional plus size models are tall and are typically size 10-14. There's nothing plus about them. However, if you consider that regular models are typically size 2-4, you can better understand the "plus" label. Whatever size she is (she looks like a 12, maybe 14); she's a gorgeous girl with an amazingly beautiful body and she looks vibrant and HEALTHY.

I just checked Wikipedia -- it says her measurements are 38D - 30 - 46 and put her at Size 16.

Yeah, she is a least a size 12 and although some folks are upset with SI because it's just an ad, it's a step in the right direction.

Whatever. She is beautiful. Just another beautiful girl. I would love that this & race were not even a discussion. "Did you see the beautiful model in that commercial/ad?". Not "Did you see the plus size/thin/white/brown/pink/yellow model?". But, it just occurred to me that those descriptions aren't any different than blonde/brunette/red head. Hmmm.

I don't understand why in this day and age women still continue to exploit themselves ,no matter what size or shape in these men's magazines and else where. Men's attitudes toward women will never change if we continue down this path.

What's better than Plus? Queen? A store in our area advertises clothes from petite to Extra Extra Lovely. Personally, as a plus, I'm happy with Plus.

She's definitely large - way too large for the 2pc she has on - not at all attractive. If SI is going to puff themselves up about showing a "plus sized"model, she should have insisted upon wearing a suit that makes herself more attractive.

If it's one thing I cannot stand it's seeing plus size/over sized women stuff themselves into 2pc suits like this one model is sporting because they do NOTHING for them. Makes me balk at them thinking they actually look good.

Wow I would love to see the people that are saying this beautiful girl is fat???? I wonder what size they are. She is absolutely lovely and looks so great in this swimsuit.

I think you misunderstand, she is most women in America, they are not celebrating her nor are they bashing her. She is beautiful and looks dam** good in that bathing suit.

Kudos to her for having the guts to model for the ad.

She's overweight and it's not healthy. While this may be a 'normal' or 'average' size of American women, Americans are have the highest ranking for being overweight and obese. it's unhealthy. I don't get overweight women in bikinis, tank tops and leggings,,,,,not a pretty look.
