A friend told me that Land's End was going to removed from Sears. Anyone know if this is true?

I recall reading that Sears sold Lands' End. I was worried that that meant for Lands' End because I have been shopping with them since 1990. Now I am wondering if Sears is the one that is going down and Lands' End wants to end its partnership with them to protect their brand.

Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

I think Sears sold Land's End because it needed to raise cash and Land's End was one of the few parts of its business that still had value. Sounds like Land's End will be an independent publicly-held company. I don't know if they'll still be in Sears stores, but they'll probably revert to their former - and very successful - model, catalog and online sales. They're probably glad not to be associated with Sears any more, it's a failed business.

Loved Land's End... not so for Sears which has gone downhill in our area. Of course our store is very small so I cannot compare it to the big city version.

Yes. I was told by a Lands End manager, they don't work for Sears, that we will be getting a Lands End store in our mall. I love on the east coast. The manager said they were looking forward to their own store.

My Sears doesn't have a lands end. We have a store at the local outlet mall though. They used to carry a good mix of catalog items and returns, but not so much anymore. Nobody is ever in the store and I can't remember the last time I bought something.

We had a Lands End at one point in our Sears but it was taken out a few years back. I was sad because I like Lands End. You can however, take your Lands End returns to Sears if you have any.

Sears badly managed the Land's End brand; it had so much potential when they bought it. At the Sears store near me, you could barely find the Land's End section. It was buried in the women's clothing department, even though it also sold men's clothes. Now on it's own again, I'm sure Land's End will do very well.

In our mall, and associate told me Land's End would be opening their own stores, but at the time didn't know which malls would have them. I like L.E. a lot, and hope to see a store near us eventually. pinky

Thank you all for your responses and the links to the articles. I have so much Lands' End clothing because I love it the fit for me and the quality although nothing anywhere seems to be made like it used to be.

I would love a Lands' End store! I would go nuts ) I am very relieved that LE will still be around, but I am not surprised that Sears is going to close soon--they have been slowly dying for years. They have not updated their stores since the 90s--you snooze you lose.

Oh, to add, I wonder if Lands' End has suffered in their reputation when they were bought by Sears?

So sad as to what has happened to Sears...it was such a great store when I was a young girl growing up. Have memories of going there with my parents for our back to school clothes and shoes. Remember the catalog that was as big a a phone book? (some of you might not remember phone books, lol).

Hope that Lands' End is able to create their own brick and mortar beyond the catalog. Nice, durable and quality clothing.

I have purchased Land's End at Sears and was very satisfied. Our Sears seems to be doing well since at the holiday rush it was crowded. I personally like the women's clothing that they have. At my age I don't need short, tight clothes that are for the young set.Just purchased nice pants and tops from the Laura Scott collection .They were on sale (after Christmas). Yes I loved to add shop the catalog and my kids fought over the Christmas one. Hope Sears does not go under.

I think one of the biggest problems Sears has was that it failed to connect with younger shoppers. Young people just don't want to shop at Sears and do not consider them a desirable option for clothing and other items. Only those of us that are older remember the Christmas catalogs, and Sears stores the way they used to be. As a child I remember, I couldn't wait until the new Christmas catalog arrived at our house in the mail every year so I could look at all the toys. This was long before big box stores like Walmart and Target and places like that existed, that sold toys. Toys were primarily sold in small toy stores and locally- owned discount stores. It was just exciting to look through the catalog at all the toys! I am dating myself but that is the truth. The Christmas catalog was a big deal!

The Sears located near me is mostly empty anytime you go in. The parking lot is empty. I go in there sometimes to buy water filters for our water dispenser/ice maker and DH goes in sometimes to look around in the tool department. The only things we buy there- filters and tools.

Because of the recent closings of so many of their stores and the appearance that they are not being able to make it financially, I really doubt that Sears will be around much longer. I would give them another 2 or 3 years if that to remain afloat. Sad.

I remember when Sears bought Lands End; they went downhill after that. I am a long-time Lands End fan and hope they go back up once sold by Sears.

I always liked Lands End. They have the best women's swimsuits. I have purchased a lot of things from them. They have nice fleece items too. I purchased some pajamas for DH from them a few months ago and he loves them.

I just think that they didn't devote enough space in their stores to the Lands End section, you really had to search for it to find it, when you went in. A few times I had to find an associate and ask where it was. I purchased a few shirts for DH but that was years ago.

I think that a lot of people like Lands End for basics. They have very nice school uniforms and they do embroidery which is nice. I also like their squall jackets and rain gear.

I think of Lands end much more positively as a retailer than I do Sears now.

The only reason I ever go in my local Sears store is for the Land's End shop. With the recent addition of a petite section (YAY!!!), the shop is growing and using more space. The manager told me that they are leasing space in the Sears store for a couple of years and then will hopefully have their own location in the mall.
