If you wear light blue on top, what color do you prefer to wear on the bottom?

I have a new light blue cashmere turtleneck. I'm planning to wear brown pants with it occasionally, as I have a new scarf in a brown/ivory/light blue plaid that will coordinate wonderfully well. Brown suede wedges and a brown suede bag will complete the look.

I think I would wear this outfit more often than wearing the sweater with black pants. And currently I have no gray or camel pants in my closet (wah!).

Hi..blue in all shades is my favorite color and I wear it a lot. If I wear light blue on top I think it looks fabulous with dark cranberry/maroon so pants or a skirt in that color would be great! Also like you said brown is great with light blue as is black, dark denim, grey, cream, silver or navy.

I wear three pieces when I'm not at home. If I have a blouse one color, the slacks and the sweater, jacket, or vest will be the same color for unity. It looks much more professional and put together. Next time you're in a store, notice how they dress the manniquin.

maddie, I like your choice of brown pants and feel they will work well with your new light blue cashmere sweater, especially when you add your new scarf.

I am the queen of black dress pants, but I am really trying to step out of that box. I think I have seen Pat and Jayne on Friday mornings once too often wearing black pants and it just seems sooooooooooo predictable (to the point of boring me!).

While not necessarily in my comfort zone , I might entertain the idea of patterned (houndstooth or a small check or plaid) pant to break up my monotony.

I love light blue with gray. I usually wear charcoal pants if I'm wearing a light blue top or sweater.

But I think brown pants will look amazing with it too Maddie. If I didn't have charcoal pants, I'd wear brown pants with it. I also love brown and blue together.

Like the sky light blue has quite a few colors which it looks good with. Of course black, charcoal and heather gray are givens. I also like light blue with navy. For something different I like to see light blue with dark leafy shades of green (think tall trees against a backdrop of blue sky). For a soft color pairing camel and ivory are lovely with light blue.

Vamp: please tell where you found the pic of that charcoal dress? The simplicity in gray is something my closet could use a little more of.

Maddie, your outfit with the brown and pale blue sounds lovely. I adore light ,pale, icy blues. In fact my wedding gown was a pale blue silk moire. I always think of a pretty light blue top as the "sky" which coordiates with any color in nature. If you don't mind, would you share where you purchased your sweater? I've been searching for the exact top you describe for a few years now without success. TIA.

Trix, I found it on Pinterest (via Polyvore). It is from Alice + Olivia and is called the Lynley dress in grey ruched jersey. It is $410 at HarveyNichols.com, or at least it was 2 months ago. Maybe it'll be on sale by now! One can wish...

It's a great basic that could be paired with a bunch of different accessories, colors, etc. for different looks.
