Lol, saw David V recite the 'gift list'

I never watch cooking shows but last night I was flipping channels and hit Q as DV launched into a list that included " the teacher, teacher's aide, ups person, mail carrier, and neighbor"..he continued with others but I can't remember. I wonder if the hosts are instructed to do this? They ALL do it!

Yes, they do. In a way, I'm glad I'm not a teacher or hairdresser because I wouldn't want all those gifts.

I give my hairdresser scratch off lottery tickets. She loves it. Maybe one year she will win big on one of them.

I find it very helpful because I just never know what to get for the guy who audited my taxes or the cop who gave me a speeding ticket.

My kids are all grown, but we never did teacher's gifts back in the day. I do gift my hairdresser and our post mistress. Our post office is very small and our village is close knit, so it's fun to take goodies. Trust me, this time of year, they earn their keep from my ordering.

I happened to stop by the show last night because the OXO gravy separator caught my eye. I've never owned one. $20 plus $6.22 s/h. Came with a baster, but don't need that. Decided to check Amazon this morning. Same exact item (no baster) for $14.95 and free s/h. It's already been shipped out. I'm using Amazon more and more, especially with the Prime options.

Same things just happened to me........Grrr I ordered the red silicon mats $21 or so plus shipping and while they were in transit to me......I saw the same thing at the drug store for $14. AND TODAY a catalog came and as I flipped through it - there were several items recently on QVC for less money. (Kitchen items)

So - going forward - no more jumping on the phone to order - I'll shop around if it's something I really want/need.

Me too - shopping Amazon more as well and ""IT"" products from Jamie's website - you get small free samples too!

oh gosh yes! Q S&H insane. I agree, I often find items in stores or on line much less than Q.

I give my hairdresser extra when I tip her at the holidays. I think she appreciates that more than a mini flashlight from QVC. Lol. Over the years, my gift list has dwindled down to immediate family. My friends and I agreed to get together and not exchange anything, just to enjoy each other and be thankful.
