Christian Dior Started Asymmectrical Designs, Not Lori

This is a Christian Dior design from the late '40's. I believe Christian Louboutin most recently brought asymmetrical to the forefront and Lori, being in design "picked it up and ran" bringing it to ready-to-wear.

DO YOU LIKE THIS ONE? IT'S MUCH BETTER BALANCED.

JMO, but not a fan of Lori Goldstein, all her layering, and uneven/pointed 'ends' hanging out everywhere, in numerous colors. See it being just a fad, and out of style in a couple of seasons.

Does it matter who started it?

I saw some statues of Romans in togas. Almost all of the togas were asymmetrical!

There's a Greek statue of a ""wounded Amazon"" dated 450 B.C. ... wearing an asymmetrical skirt.

Me? No way it matters who was first. There's just not much that's totally new. Further, just because something is new doesn't make it good on me.

I agree that this shark tooth style is just a fad. I just don't care for it no matter who is the designer.

I appreciate this posting. I get very weary of so many people thinking LG actually came up with this type of design on her own.

Can't make out the front of the jacket because the photo is so dark, but again IMO, this is nothing like what Lori Goldstein puts out there. This style jacket looks more like a modified tailed mens formal jacket or a version of a peplum. Classy, not sloppy....and by the way, I didn't know that there were 'rules' for commenting on posts here.

I don't like the material she uses. It pills, and also small holes come out of nowhere.

I LOVE her line. It's light weight, I get ton's of compliments every time I wear anything of hers and it's very flattering.

No. Like you said, it's timeless. Who started it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is who does it today in a way you might want to wear it - and that could be anyone or even many people. Or it could be no one at all because it's not a look you like. Who started it is just not important.

Why are people determined to point out and disclaim that Lori didn't start this type of clothing design? I don't think she ever claimed it as her own.

I wasn't born in the 40's and neither was Lori....lol How many years did it take you to find that tired old chesnut anyway? lol Lori never said and no one believes that she invented the trend. I bought a cardigan in that style at Macy's long before LOGO started selling the look. That was about 7 years ago. Like it....don't like. It doesn't matter. Don't get yourself all worked up over silly stuff......

It is like Susan Graver stating that she "invented" liquid knit"! She came up with the catchy name but that is as far as it goes. Polyester and spandex have been paired long before she came onto the scene. She is too much! I have some of her clothes. She does get a lot of styles right. Some of her stuff is hideous. I have just become very tired of her "overenthusiastic" nature. That for lack of a better way of putting it. It is nothing personal, I should be as passionate(though I believe I am). I try not to talk ad nauseum!
