Simplified My Wardrobe

It feels so good to finally get rid of so many clothes, shoes and accessories. I have been purging, donating and simplifying. I had so many black clothes it was difficult to find a specific item. It was hard and soul searching realizing the wasted money but the effort was worth it. My boot collection had gotten out of hand as well as sweaters. Having a few good quality pieces is just easier for me. Counting all seasons and accessories I have under 100 items and I will be very careful of any future purchases.

Well I am kind of in a hurry but here are a few.

NYDJ Jeans one boyfriend and one skinny

Talbots denim shirt dress. I love this with leggings and it also layers over shirts and works well with different accessories.

Cashmere sweaters

Denim Shirt

White Shirt

I bought some really pretty reasonably priced blouses and Loft that wash well

Pencil skirts in black and denim

Of course there is more but I am going with less prints. I did just purchase the new Gili handbag in natural. I just hated taking so much time in the morning getting dressed. I am a stay at home mom with a busy life and just needed a more streamlined approach to dressing. Some mornings I would just put on yoga pants out of frustration and to be easy but that was becoming a rut.

Congratulations on your streamlining!

My big change has been consolidating my clothes into one closet. (I used to keep one season in our bedroom closet, and out-of-season clothes all over the house!) It's great having everything where I can see it. It makes it easy to decide what I need - and what I don't.

We do have a separate "coat closet" where I need to do some paring down. For some reason, I find it hard to part with coats. Maybe it's because they cost more to begin with (than a top or pair of slacks).

Thanks! I need the inspiration. My life has changed in the last five years as I left the corporate side of healthcare and moved to private practice. Still have suits that I just do not wear as I reach for the same things because there is just too much to choose from. I am feeling the urge to clean out!!!

Doesn't it feel great? I love it. You inspired me to jump into my kitchen pantry next week and make some sense of it. I go through my clothes closet twice a year, so the closet's in good shape. I need to have that good feeling in the kitchen now. Enjoy your organized world!

I need to simplify because of my current "wardrobe confusion." I have always been a simple/classic dresser. Why oh why did I decide that I needed a style make over.

Not to pick on LOGO but I bought into this as "a more current look" for me. Clothing should make us feel good and this line is ok at home but not outside the home for me. And I don't like do-dads on my clothing so why would I buy B. Mackie. Well I could go on. Good news is our Battered Women's Shelter has a good resale shop and I do feel good about giving to them.

I'm back to Talbots, AT, Eileen Fisher, some JJill.
