I put two pair of pants in my shopping cart on another shopping channel's website. Shipping for the first pair was $2.99 and the second was $1.49. Contrast that with the S&H on this morning's Susan Graver show, which ranged from $6.22 to $7.47. Just saying.

I only buy what I can't find any where else.
I've been with
QVC since before it was QVC.
I'm almost completely done with it because of the shipping.
It's like losing an old friend....

BREAKING NEWS: Just heard that on the news - Wait until the first of January when UPS costs will go up - I am sure QVC will also add on to shipping and it will really be horrendous.

Yes, I agree, they are slow to give shipping breaks to their customers. I'm another one that has been with the Q over 20 years and find it disappointing to tack on another $10 - $12 (or more) for shipping and tax. I'm always looking at the total price before I buy.

I've been looking for a crew neck sweatshirt and found one at Macy's and another from Deluth Trading. For Macy's it was $10.95 shipping on a $24.95 sweatshirt and at Deluth's it was $12.95. Now to me that's high shipping and handling!!! Deluth would give free shipping for orders $50 and more but the sweatshirt was $49.95 and I couldn't find anything less than $39 that I would actually buy..

ShopHQ is doing $2.99 s/h on apparel today and free s/h on everything if you use your ShopHQ credit card.

I bought several things from ShopHQ a few weeks ago on fashion day and they were doing the same $2.99 shipping deal. However, I paid that same price for everything I ordered, even though I ordered it all at the same time. I got no break on subsequent shipping.

Most of the time, the s/h on Shop is crazy high and they give you no break. I've deleted items out of my shopping cart when my s/h was over $20.00 for a few clothing items.

I would love for QVC's shipping to be cheaper, but when I don't want to spend my money on what ELSEWHERE is selling, what good is cheap shipping?

I do most of my buying as locally as I can. There's a huge mall near me with Nordstrom on one end and Sears on the other. We all know there's a price difference between the two generally. My car just doesn't know how to park near Sears.

I wish I wanted to shop at ELSEWHERE - I just don't virtually or brick and mortar.

I was just looking at the Mercury glass mason jars because they are on clearance for $21 .12. Well shipping is $7.47. Might be a deal breaker for me. I don't need them, not sure I even want them, was just going to give 'em a try at the clearance price. I'm not typically too critical of shipping costs since my car uses premium gas and I try to look at it in terms of what it would cost me to get in the car and drive to the store,lol. But for some reason, this one rubbed me the wrong way. $30.00..not exactly clearance.

....then you should shop with that other shopping channel. I think we all believe that Qvc's s&h charge are too high. But, it's not a deal breaker for the vast majority of us. Mentally, I add the s&h charge to the price of the item and that's what I base my decision on. Sometimes I buy, sometimes I don't.

I resent shopping with any store/retailer that gives me less of a break than it gives to those who use their own credit card. I know why they do it, I just don't like it.

Sometimes there's not another good choice, but when there is, I just take my money to a different retailer.

I've never used a Q card, never been tempted, but I've also never seen QVC show one price for me and a cheaper price if I used their card.

I noticed other retailers who charge even more that QVC does on the S&H, but definitely agree that QVC is high. However, that has little to do with me making the purchase if their bottom line beats everyone else.

The other thing to know is that ShopHQ does not refund the original s/h charge. So if you pay $2.99 to have a sweater sent to you and hate the sweater, you aren't refunded that $2.99 plus you have to pay to send it back.

Although I certainly don't like to pay for shipping, I have begun to understand what seems to be happening. Most of my returns were done at the PO. I pay for the tape to reseal, and the house and climate control are of course factored in, as well as my labor, gas, and time. Q provides the container. Quite a few times, I only come out maybe as high as two dollars to the good. I wasn't really saving.

HSN has always tried to draw the shoppers from Q to them. Baised on what I've gathered from my returns, it seems to me it's a hook to draw us over. HSN rearely competes with Q's clothing quality or price point. What I've ordered was sent back. They have no one like Dennis Basso's quality except in leather items in my opinion, since I have taught tailoring.

In a store, the delivery and everything else is factored in, but it's $10.00 to get an item shipped to you normally. Look at some sites. They go up to $15.99 for a top!

It's a no win situation because postage will never be free!

I also think shipping is high but I feel as though that's the price I have to pay for shopping online. I hate shopping in stores anymore. And, really hate going from store to store to find something. With just a click of the mouse and my package is on the way. It's so much easier, but I pay for it. I help keep the delivery guys working.

I ordered a lot of furniture from Overstock and Amazon this past month..and shipping was FREE...I had to speak to CS about something and we had a discussion regarding shipping etc..and I was told that large companies have contracts for shipping and usually don't pay per item they pay PER CONTRACT..be it a year..quarter etc..

Especially "freight.." that goes on the heavy trucks.

I ordered a Generator one time frome Home Depot right before Hurricane Sandy and it was delayed for a few days but luckily we didn't need it..and thd trucking firm that delivered it was talking to hubby and he had six generators from HD on the truck..he said they have a contract with HD and it is a yearly fee..every generator was not shipped at a charge of $100..as some of the shipping was on other sites.

Q could do a lot better with their shipping..but they makes tons of dough on that..they have to pay for the host salaries, the vendors profits..and those sets..and you have the production and all support staff..you have places like Amazon and Overstock and it is all warehouse style ..

QVC's shipping is reasonable, not cheap, not free, but reasonable. My DH ordered a part for his car - part weighed less than a pound, cost less than $50, shipping was $16.95. It was defective, the company accepted the return, but we paid for return shipping ($12.00) and we weren't refunded the original shipping, so for a $50 part, we were out close to $20 in shipping.

In the early days of television shopping one of their sales pitches was that because they didn't have the overhead of B&M stores (rent, utilities, sales staff, advertising, etc.) that they could offer lower prices. It's been a very long time since they've tried to use that line. Since then they've added fancy studios with fancy sets, professional models, producers with high tech computers to whisper in the hosts' ears to "sell more PURPLE". Television shopping probably has HIGHER overhead than B&M stores now!

Most retail stores (if not all) have their own website that you can shop from. If they have a store in your area, most times you have the option to order from their website and there is no shipping charge if you pick it up at your local store. I've done this with several, including Walmart, Home Depot, and Christopher & Banks to name a few. Unfortunately, due to their remote (1) location, QVC can't offer that option. Christopher & Banks is having a 40% off EVERYTHING sale this week and it's so popular that a lot of styles were out of stock in my size at my local store. The sales associate offered to order it for me and have it shipped TO MY HOME FOR FREE. She placed the order Monday evening (I went in after work) and I got an email notification saying it will be on my doorstep tomorrow (Friday). The SA told me that ladies call the store to place their orders like that all the time - no cost at all to ship directly to their home if the order is placed from the store.

Wow, can you just imagine if QVC could do that?
