Unless the money is mine I really don't think about it.

QVC is, of course, going to get the biggest cut of the profits but I am sure the designers are getting plenty, too. Just look at the numbers sold on some things.

Curious about how much profit from sales the designers on the Q can make. Of course, no way of really knowing, but it has me wondering. Say a top sells for $50. With costs involved it may cost the designer $20. If I am on the right track, that would be a $30 profit per piece. If 10,000 pieces are sold, they would stand to make $300,000 on that item. Can that be right? If so, image what they make on a collection!

There is no doubt the "designers" on QVC are making the big profits. Since they sell their couture dresses for thousands of dollars each - why would they invest so much time and effort into designing and coming to QVC at all hours to sell if it wasn't highly profitable?

I think, just as QVC manufactures lines like Denim & co - they probably only buy the design from these designers and then they manufacture it for them. It seems that - though they all call it something different - they all use the same poly double knits and french terry or cotton / span blends etc.

Keep in mind ... you need to subtract overhead from that $30 ""profit."" Running a cable television channel costs money.

These figures are pure speculation on your part. There is no way for the average person to know how much ""profit"" a piece makes so you are pulling guesses out of thin air and the figures are meaningless.

If QVC sells something for $50 then the garment probably cost $8- to manufacture & package, if that! (I saw a documentary on manufacturing & things are marked up A LOT...I'm speculating on what I saw!)-The designer probably makes $10 of that and the Q gets the rest. It's not a 50/50 split!

There is no way that anyone could figure this out- QVC clothing is mass produced!

The designers don't get paid per item- They make a lump sum.

QVC approached Joan Rivers with the idea of her developing a clothing/jewelry line-They know how to make money!

I can tell you this. A friend of mine was on QVC years ago, he told me that QVC takes 60% profit and the vendor gets 40%. I don't know if it's still the same now.
