topic Where To Wear - Maxi Dresses in Fashion

I see them for sale but......where do you wear them today? The usual responses are bridal showers, weddings, your particular denomination of worship house. But really, to just be about ones' business about town, why would you wear one if other articles of clothing are more practical. I've lived through the various eras where the maxi-dress came and went and it was novelty back then. Today, it just doesn't call out to me. If I purchase one, I'd like to know where to wear one. Any ideas?
