Of course you form an opinion about someone on how they are dressed. It sends a message that we, of this culture, receive. Lions have manes to send a message, we wear shoes, shirts and clothing that we are comfortable with, therefore sending signals about ourselves.

It isn't necessarily evil. It is simply a part of A N Y culture in any part of the world.

Sgraham, I don't think I have ever noticed a woman's handbag in my life.

Sooner, IA that we are judged by our appearance. However, I forget her name...is it Jackie?...she said it as a matter of you need to carry an expensive looking handbag or else you will be judged harshly. The implication being that you need to have it as a status symbol or else you're not worth anything. That's bullkrap.

I personally don't judge by others bags or accessories. If something stands out & i like it then i'll compliment the person, otherwise i don't look. I'm not into the whole "label" thing. Like cool you spent thousands on that Berkin, or cool you got that for $10 clearance at Marshalls. Either way doesn't bother me

The only bag I ever notice is those ubiquitous Louis Vuitton ones. There are so many, does every other woman really have one? So I might stare a bit, trying to decide if they're fakes.

Otherwise, I wouldn't know a $5000 bag from a $10 bag.

I try not to judge. I can be hard enough on myself. But I can't help but judge kindness and a smile. (Much more important than a handbag)

Get real, people. Whoever the host is, she's simply doing her job. She's not making social commentary, she's selling merchandise. What is she supposed to say? "Buy this bag, there's nothing special about it and you don't really need it". The problem is you people send too much time in front of a tv set watch a sales program. So much time that you apparently have forgotten that QVC exists to sell stuff. The hosts are't journalists, they are sales associates. They all good sales people, they say whatever it takes to make a sale. The sad thing is that there are people to their sales pitches and actually take every word seriously. That's very sad.

It's sad, but true. I notice handbags, but would never in a million years "judge" someone because of it. Plus, my pastor told me I wasn't the "judge" anyhow.

People don't judge by appearances? Read the Lori Goldstein forum.

You may think you don't notice someone's handbag, but you get an over-all impression and judge that person based on that impression. Posts above stated "I don't notice handbags UNLESS . . . . ."

Think of 2 women - one is carrying a tie-dyed cotton sling bag, the other is carrying a leather or faux leather handbag. What immediately pops in your head about each one?
