I have a wedding to go to in August. I am upset because it seems like pantyhose are no longer in fashion. All I ever see are girls and older woman wearing faux tanner on bare legs. Young girls started this and now it seems like I will look dated and feel like a fool if I don't follow the pack. It's easy for young girls to go without hose since they have no spider veins and whatever else shows up as we age. I also have white legs and prefer the finished look of hose. I'm hating the idea of having to color my legs and arms, but I'd rather do that then look outdated!

Do woman in offices still wear pantyhose or not? Do only very old woman wear them? Let me know what is going on with this whole fashion thing of no hose please. Thank you.

My son got married last August and I wore very sheer off black hose with black patent pumps (my dress was black and white) and I don't care if anyone liked it or not. I was not going to his wedding in bare legs.

At my office, I wear slacks all the time just to avoid this very issue. I don't care about not having hose with slacks. But the wedding needed a dress and I needed hose. I'm said to myself then, "I'm 58 years old and I can do what I want."

My work required hose until a few years before I retired. This is Phoenix......can you imagine getting into a 150 degree car in the summer wearing hose? Glad they finally relented. As for a wedding........I think I would opt for a long dress.

Definitely wear the hose if they make your legs look better and if you will be more comfortable. There are some young girls and many older women who would benefit from a pair of hose.

I am in my early 40s and wear pantyhose to work. While the dress code no longer explicitly requires it, I leave the bare legs to the interns and new hires as I don't think it is professional looking. I don't think there's any one answer to this question, so wear what you think looks and feels good for you.

My corporate office requires pantyhose but the pantyhose police officer is retiring soon, so that will be the first "rule" to go after she's gone, I'm sure

I haven't met our new CEO in person yet.

My office is a little over 1,000 workers, and the majority of us are women. I haven't seen pantyhose in years.

Before the wedding, how about spending a day in a dress without pantyhose. Maybe you feel differently at the end of that day.

That being said, please wear whatever makes you comfortable, we've all earned that right.

I just went to and outdoor wedding in Florida last weekend and had the same thoughts. In the end I say no to the pantyhose as no one was wearing them, but I did apply Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs and it worked perfectly.its not going to cover really bad spider veins but it gives your legs some color and looks finished. There are several videos on YouTube on how to apply. I exfoliated my legs, shaved and when I dried of after the shower I put some lotion in my hand and then sprayed the Airbrush Legs into my hand as well the lotion made it easier to apply and gave a more even results. There is also a cream version I can't vouch for but may work better. The lotion will make it take a tad longer to apply, but when it's dry it does not transfer to anything. I loved it and highly recommend it. I did give it a trial run before the actual day to make sure. I had not worn a dress in about 10 years and I am heavier now and my age is 52, but I felt confident with the product results.

I think if you want to, you should wear them. You will feel more confident and not be worrying about the bare leg thing - and how do my legs look, and will the faux tanner smear, etc. It is true that the majority of people do not seem to wear hose any more. I am older, too, and am very fair and do not have very good legs any more. I occasionally will wear those toeless kind of hose which you can purchase many places. I got mine at Penneys. So, if you are wearing a dressy sandal, your bare toes show giving the appearance of bare feet and legs. If I wear a very long casual skirt or dress, I will go without hosiery. If I am dressing up though, I prefer hose. For me, it's the right choice. I agree that if your dress matches, a very sheer silky black hose is also a nice option. Do whatever makes you feel good and happy!

Panty hose are not in style in the way that they used to be.

Still, interestingly, when I attended a funeral recently, everyone who was in a dress or suit was wearing hose. So I guess there are still places where they are appropriate.

In your situation, I'd wear hose if that's what looked best on me and made me feel comfortable.

I do think an August wedding would be a good occasion to experiment with going without hose, given the weather (and especially if it's an outdoor event). But if that doesn't appeal to you, then wear hose as you usually would (and choose sheer ones, which are dressier).

In my opinion, bare legs are way too casual for most weddings unless an outdoor beachy or more casual one. I don't think it's a good look for anyone even the young. The same as when men wear suits and not socks. Even with some sort of leg makeup, self tanned legs, etc - it just doesn't look right to me. My boyfriend's daughter got married at an expensive venue. Her bridesmaids wore tea length dresses with no hose. There were so many comments on how the bare legs didn't fit the venue as it cheapened the look. Even the bride mentioned that in the pictures their legs didn't have a great look.

I say wear pantyhose or thigh highs which are really comfortable. If you are wearing sandals then you can get a toeless version. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. Kate - the royal - wears them and I see them more and more now as more and more over 40's are seeing this trend is not really a good look. If you are worrying about what others think - well would you sooner have your legs look great in hose and maybe some think you outdated or rock the look of spider veins showing as there is no makeup or self tanner that will hide them or smooth them out? You could also opt for a pant outfit which would eliminate all that. There are some very nice ones out there.

If you want to wear pantyhose, or anything else for that matter, DO IT! I can't stand white lumpy veiny legs and I can't stand being cold and I can't stand leg makeup, as the twirling squad used to call it. I was the one who always wound up with a large white blotch where I couldn't get the leg makeup to cover. If some 15 year old told you wearing a bra or underp*nts was outdated would you go commando to a formal event? Grow a pair and wear what YOU think is best for YOU.

I still wear pantyhose to work and church. The only exception is in the summer, I don't wear them with sandals. I also make sure that my skirt is at least mid-calf length. If you want to wear them, by all means do.

I'm saying do what YOU want to do - wear stockings/hose if you so choose. If this is what makes YOU feel polished, finished GO for it!!! Chances are no one but you & your hubby will know.

And if you're like me with white legs (I no longer tan outside nor faux) I don't care what others may say. If you choose to go bare legs, GO for it!

Whatever your choice, feel great, look great and enjoy that wedding!!!

I, personally, don't care for pantyhose. But, do what you feel comfortable with. The whole"no-hose" revolution was women saying that they embrace their legs in any way. I've seen bare legs that are white, tan, spider veins, etc. Do what makes you happy! I have white legs and just use a little self-tanner a few days before I plan to wear a shorter dress. It just adds a little color. I often wear Maxi dresses to avoid the entire issue and be more comfortable.

Bottom line....Do what makes YOU happy and what YOU are comfortable with!
