When Leaving A Clothing Review, PLEASE...

...for those who are comfortable doing so, when leaving a review on clothing, PLEASE start the review by letting us know as much about your body type as possible. If I'm an apple and you're a pear, I probably won't put as much import on your review as I will other apples. If possible, when leaving a review either on the Fashion Forum or on the regular Q site, please start the review by telling us your height, body type (apple, pear, hour glass, stick figure), weight, etc. If you're 6 feet tall and 115 pounds, and I'm 5 feet tall and 150 pounds, what looks good on you may not look good on me. IMO, the more info you can provide, the more helpful your review is.

Anthro has kind of a bio to the left of the review with height and weight and if you want to add more you can.

I'd also like when applicable what color you purchased and how it compares online.

Please at least try it on before you write a review!

I can't believe how many reviews I have read that

say how great the color etc. and never a word about fit.

Oh, it would also help if we know how it came out of

the laundry. Did you follow the directions on the label?

Did you just toss in the dryer on low for a few minutes

and then hang? Did it shrink all over or just the length?

Did it fade? These would be helpful things to know.

Awesome advice! You'd think it would be common sense (or courtesy??). I try to give details whenever possible. I didn't think about the "real-life" color versus online info, though. I think if it turned out to be significantly different for an item I ordered, I would've definitely pointed that out, though. Great thread!

My big request would be to say what color you ordered. It seems like a lot of times there is one color that people don't like or the fabric is not nice.

I have asked this before. It helps tremendously if I know more about the persons body type & then tell us what size fits! Is it a little tight, too long, too short? The more info the better! I have bought more clothes that actually fit me & saved me having to send back, by seeing a review on something I am interested in buying & the person says "I am 5'5, 145, bust size or maybe what size you wear in B&M stores. It really does help. I get it that some people dont want others to know their weight or maybe bust size or clothing size, but hey I dont know any of these people personally. And it helps so much to get an idea so you dont end up having to send something back & pay all those extra shipping fees plus the hassle of sending it back & waiting for a refund. Just saying it is really helpful rather than just saying, "I got this, love it. Fits just right." S&H charges are just too expensive! I have pretty much stopped buying from the Q because of shipping costs & getting the right fit.

ITA with the OP & others. The more detail about your body type, height weight, size you ordered, color, etc. the better. Also shrinkage and wash details.

I try to include all of this info in my product reviews as they're much more helpful in the buying decision.

In presenting I wish the hosts would always mention the sizes the models are wearing.. at least something in which to relate to your own body shape, weight, length, for sizing help.

Sizing charts are a joke.

I love when consumers do that, getting everythingas clear and as explicit as possible: body type & height, weight & age, how the item fits, the exact color the item is & what it truly looks like in real life, etc....

It really does help the review, especially as the readers might be able to apply some of the notations to themselves - or especially, if the item is a gift - and I like give them a 'thumbs up' or a "yes" as much as I can for such a well-expressed review.

I also always try to write my own reviews the same way.

I agree with the person who started the thread. I read a review today, and the kind woman left her bra size in the review, letting those of us with a fuller chest know the item would work for us. That info helped me make a decision. It would be nice if we could depend on size ranges, and garment measurements. Since we can't do that much any longer, reviews are most helpful.

Perfect example, I realize this isn't for clothing but I was digging through my Wen products that I got with kits. I was reading the reviews looking for tips on the Treatment Oil which has all six scents and the review is "Bad Smell" but doesn't say which one!

That's why I sometimes will allude to my body type on reviews--height, etc...to help others out. That's why I like to know what size the models/hosts are in. If the item is too tight on them, I kind of know what to do about sizing. If they are in an XS and it's too big, then I know what to do. The more info...the better.

Great advice, I wish QVC would post these kind of pointers before people post their reviews. If you have ever bought anything from Modcloth, the reviewers give such great reviews where they give their height weight and measurements so you have a really good idea if the garment will fit you or not. This would be so very helpful on QVC. I know I will try to be more helpful in the future and also tell where the garment hits me in length.

Edited to add, I agree the hosts need to tell us what size they are wearing if they are modeling the clothes and tell us what size the models are wearing ALL THE TIME. They constantly tell us the colors, and we can see those, can't we?? I totally missed a tsv (no big loss really) because the hosts never told us the size the models were wearing during the presentations nor what they were wearing and I suffered through several. I even tried calling CS and that was fruitless. So, to avoid a return, I didn't buy.

ITA, even tho some of the information would not matter. I guess more is always better in this case. When reading reviews I always look for a common thread on the complaints. If several ladies mention it, that's enough of a negative for me to not order.

I hope everyone will try to do this...I just CAN'T afford to keep returning items. (I do use the size charts, but, somehow...doesn't always seem to work for this pear shaped 37-32-42 body!!!! I don't think so .... we all have access to our own body measurements, and garment measurements and we know how we like our clothes to fit.
