Does the gold/silver tone hardware on a bag determine if you purchase?

I am a silver/white gold girl only and I always purchase bags with silvertone hardware. Sometimes I see a great bag (LOVED Lisa's blush one) but no can do because of the goldtone hardware. Am I just TOO picky or does the color of the hardware matter to you too?

I specifically ordered an Issac black hobo bag because that was the only color with silvertone hardware. I like both gold and silver, but it seems I can only find goldtone lately. Sometimes the gold makes the bag look cheap. At least to me. But not always. I have some lovely bags with goldtone. It just depends on if it is more shiny vs matte. And the color of the leather.

I am definitely looking for more silvertone hardware so I think twice before I order one without.

Absolutely. It influences many of my purchases for clothing as well.

There have been times I've loved jackets, coats and blazers but have passed because of goldtone buttons or hardware.

it doesnt influence me at all. sometimes i wear gold jewelry, silver jewelry, and sometimes 2 tone jewelry. i like having handbags to use with all of them so whatever i buy will work with what i have.

Yes. I have two black bags, one with goldtone & one with silver tone hardware. Same with my two brown bags. I have a couple metallics for flexibility and a "Chanel-esque" bag. Hardware color is always one determining factor for me.

I used to care about matching my jewelry to my handbag hardware, but not so much now. Most of the bags I've purchased over the last couple of years have goldtone hardware, which works for me because I wear gold most of the time. But if I decide to wear silver one day, I don't feel like I have to change my bag unless I just want to do so. I rarely have time anymore.

Never. I couldn't face the coordination problems every day of putting together an outfit with jewelry that was all gold-toned or silver-toned. If stripes with florals and dots with plaids are now fashionable, no one is going to notice my mixed metals.

Yes!!!!!Buttons and hardware on sandals too! I've had DH change out the buckles on my sandals many times. Yes I'm that crazy.

Ditto! It's not that big of a deal to me....silvertone or goldtone. If I like the bag, I could care less what color the hardware it. However for shoes....that's a different story and will not buy shoes with silvertone accents.

Edited to say: The reason for the no silver on shoes is simply because I don't wear silver jewelry ever. I've never liked silver. But for a handbag...that's not something I'm wearing. I at the most have it on my shoulder from the car to the office or vice versa.

It matters to me if it doesn't look right. For example, I don't think silver tone hardware on a brown bag looks good.

Silver ONLY. I have older bags that have gold and they look ok. For some reason no matter how much the bag is the gold tone hardware looks off color and cheap to me. I have found so many bags that I love but have gold hardware. That is a deal breaker for me. I don't match it with my jewelry either. I don't care for anything brown and I mean anything but I agree with Nighthawks that silver on brown doesn't look quite right.

My brown bag with silver hardware is a distressed saddlebag style. A casual, hip looking bag. I also have a brown bag with rose tone hardware that is a step above casual.

Yes but I have noticed that some of the manufacturers are starting to use hardware on their handbags that will go with either white or yellow gold. My preference is a handbag with silver toned hardware but I do own one that looks gold when I wear gold accessories...(which isn't very frequent, though.)

I bet your bags look great. I like a brown bag with an unexpected hardware color. It's different.

No, I'm a fanatic about matching my metals but I have huge jewelry collection. So, I have gold and silver pieces. I understand the "it's okay to mix metals" but I can't. Right down to the buckle on my belt, my metals have to match.

It matters to me. I'm not a fan of gold and I don't wear it at all. It would be very hard for me to buy a bag with gold hardware, I don't think I currently have any bags that have it.

Sometimes, yes! I passed on a Coach bag because it had gold hardware and waited for the bag to come out w/ the silvertone (which it did several months later)
