Many of us are stalking soldout items in hopes that one will come back in stock. To save a few clicks, I use icons as shortcuts for any items I'm watching. I also use them to go right to the Linea page in QVC, and another one for the Linea items on Clearance. Take a few minutes to set it up and you'll save so much time later. Okay, maybe just 30 seconds, but isn't our time valuable?

Below are directions for Mozilla Firefox browser users. Following that are directions for Internet Explorer users. The directions are very similar, and if you use another browser, you may be able to figure it out, or just ask and I'll post those directions. I can't help with AOL, I'm not a subscriber.

Mozilla Firefox

First, at the top of the page, you'll see menu items - File, Edit, View, etc. Click on View, then choose Toolbars, and make sure there is a checkmark next to Menu Bar, Navigation Bar, and Bookmarks Toolbar. As you check or uncheck each one, you'll see it appear and disappear and you'll know which is which.

Note: If you wish, you can display your icons in a sidebar. Click on View - Sidebar - Bookmarks. The first category is Bookmarks Toolbar, followed by Bookmarks Menu. Click on them and any bookmarks will appear below. The advantage is that you can display more icons than if you use the toolbar. The disadvantage of using a sidebar is that is reduces the size of your window. The choice is yours.

Now, go to the web page for which you want to create a shortcut. From the menu at the top of the page, click on Bookmarks and choose 'Bookmark This Page' or press 'CTRL' and 'D' on your keyboard (CTRL+D). A dialog box will appear. Next to Name, delete the text in the box and type in the item number, or a brief description of what the item is - skirt, pants, etc. Remember, the more characters you use, the more space it will take up on your toolbar.

This is important: In the next box, marked Folder, click the drop-down arrow and choose Bookmarks Toolbar, instead of Bookmarks Menu.

Click Done and you'll see the bookmark on your toolbar.

You can do this for as many items as will fit on your toolbar. If you want to re-arrange the order, you can just click and drag them to where you want them.To remove the icon, right-click on it (using the RIGHT button on your mouse, not the left) and choose Delete from the drop-down box that appears.

Internet Explorer

In Internet Explorer, bookmarks are called Favorites.

At the top of the page, click on View - Explorer Bar - Favorites (or CTRL+Shift+I) and you'll see a Favorites Center appear on the left. This is where your icons will appear. If you feel that reduces the size of your window too much, click the X at the top right of the Favorites Center and access the shortcut from clicking on Favorites at the top of the page.

Go to the web page for which you want to create a shortcut. From the menu at the top of the page, click on Favorites - Add to Favorites.. A dialog box will appear. Next to Name, delete the text in the box and type in the item number or a brief description of the item.

In the next box, marked Create In, it should show 'Favorites'.

Click Add and you'll see the bookmark listed in your Favorites Center, or by clicking Favorites on your menu bar.

You can do this for as many items as you wish. To remove the icon, right-click on it and choose Delete. Or, click on Favorites - Organize Favorites. Then just click on the shortcut and click the Delete button at the bottom of the dialog box.

I hope that helps.
