Linda R, a good friend of ours is having rotator cuff surgery in June. He is the fellow with Parkinson's Disease & he fell 5-6 times during the winter in the house. Then a couple of months ago he was attacked by a pit bull. That was the final straw for his shoulder injuries. He tried PT but it didn't help him. Right now he & his wife are on a bus tour of Niagara Falls for a week. I just hope that she can handle him & their luggage. His wife did say the month of June was very busy looking & NOT with fun things. I wonder what a shoulder replacement is like. Please post more about this later. I can't imagine having both of them done.

Hi girls!

Well, I was up early as the internet technician was here; the problem was some cables that had ends that - has he put it - "look like they got hit by lightning." So, I'm back to having my fast and reliable internet. Since the internet is my primary source of entertainment, apart from reading, I got my entire office/bonus room scrubbed and cleaned last night; I even got the floors polished on my hands and knees. Imagine how clean my entire house would be if I never got on-line?

I have to remember to call and get my bill adjusted, with I was without for over a week; that'll help recover half the cost of the money I wasted on that Virgin Mobile garbage.

I think the Lord with the help of my girls saved me yesterday. We went for a long walk, and there's a shortcut that goes from behind Walmart, a little over a mile from my house, to a large town park - if I drive directly to the park, it's several miles, so to save gas we take the shortcut. There's a path leading to the park that goes through a forest along a big creek, and it's really a lovely area. Well, yesterday we were walking along, enjoying the silence, and all of a sudden they started growling and barking at something in back of me, which isn't like them. I turned to see what they were carrying on about, and there were two foreigners (probably illegals) just a foot or two behind me - they had crept up silently, and it was odd that they didn't even say a word to each other while walking. When I saw them one asked "innocently," "are your dogs friendly?" Well, I guess sometimes it's OK to lie; I took hold of girls' leashes about a foot from their collars as if to hold them back and said, "No, not at all - you'd better not come any closer to them." The two took off running as the girls continued growling. Really creeped me out - usually they are very friendly, but something about those two really set them off. I think today they're going to get a special treat as a reward.

It's a gorgeous day out; I need to catch up on homework, but maybe we'll go to the park where they can swim in the stream - that is, Autumn will swim and have a blast; I've gotten Honeybun to where she'll wade in with us, but she just endures it. Both of them simply can't resist wading in every puddle and shallow stream they see, but won't give their own pool a second look!

Have a blessed day, everyone!

FHG, I am glad that you had your girls with you on your walk. Yes the Lord does have his hand on us at all times. It is good to get your phone mess cleared up too.

I got my haircut kind of spikey today. All it took was two days in the 80's to make me want to get my hairdo short again. Then I came home & completely decluttered my closet. I have a large garbage bag for St. Vincent's on Friday. I told my DH to do the same so we can both get the excess out of the bedroom. We had a little rain yesterday, but they are saying 70's until next week sometime & no rain. I hung three large loads of wash out this morning & they are drying very quickly.

Right now I am very tired & looking forward to a nap before dinner. Then I want some Kindle time like Jean. It seems like the weekend is already here for me.

Hugs to all of you.

Good Morning/Afternoon! Thanks for getting us started Arlene. Glad your internet has been repaired, and you are back in business. Sounds like a pretty scary encounter in the woods. Probably a good idea to avoid that shortcut in the future. Better safe than sorry as they say. Hope you get your homework done and enjoy the weather.

It is nice here -- warm and pretty sunny. But, the winds are still fairly strong, and they keep talking about potential fire risk. Sure hope that doesn't happen.

DH and I had a nice walk this morning, and I'll be going to Curves later.

Nothing else going on here.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, twinny, LindaR, Susan, Marijane, Rosa, Karen, Nancy, Gayle, Val, Kathy, and all of our posters and readers. By the way -- I saw pictures of Sonya on FB, and it looks like they are having a nice Alaskan cruise.

Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Animals have such a sense of who they can trust. I had a beloved Springer that was my best protector. Miss that fella.

It is hot here today. I saw a segment on the news that we would need 50-60 inches of rain in the next six months to break our drought--that won't be happening---promises to be a very HOT summer.

Arlene, thank you for starting the thread. You were fortunate to have dogs to give you a warning. I'm also glad that your Internet is fixed. Getting a credit for time not used is a good idea. The Internet can be a big time stealer, with people finding too much time spent on it and not elsewhere.

Twinny---I'm sure that your hair looks great spiked. I'm a great believer in short hair for me, especially for summer. Good job on decluttering the closet. Sometimes, when we do that we find some real gems that are begging to be used. It is a judgment call whether they should be kept or recycled.

Linda--Glad you had a sunny day and that you are enjoying Curves. I also saw Sonya's pictures of the Alaskan cruise on Facebook. They looked like she was having great fun.

LindaR--You have had a really long period of drought. It is so hard to compensate for lack of rain when it does rain.

I worked today after not having much sleep last night. I was asked to work Friday but I have an orthopedic appointment on Friday.

I did see that the set of three Clarisonic brushes have shipped. That was my last QVC order.

A lady I know is soon to have shoulder replacement surgery. I had no idea! One and then the other. I have known so many people who have had to have rotator cuff surgery--hers are beyond repair.

I am so happy that I did declutter my closet. I know I will not miss anything I am getting rid of. Now I can look in there & instantly know what I will wear for the day. I do need to organize my shoes, but that will be a quick fix for me. It is hot today but should be less humid the rest of the week & only in the 70's not 80's. I feel so much better when I do take a nap. The next two weeks will be very busy around here, so I hope I get a daily nap to carry me through what needs to get done.

LL & Linda R, I hope you do get some rain so the fire risk will lessen. I did hear on the TV a few days ago that we should be below normal temps for June-August. That would be great as long as we don't have a really cold winter again next year.

Jean good luck with your appt. Friday. It was good that you got to work today instead of Friday even though you didn't get much sleep last night.
