How many here have chestnuts for Christmas?

I've never been a fan of them. I had them roasted, and peeled them while they were still warm.

There are better tasting nuts as far as I'm concerned

I have never had roasted chestnuts here in the US from a street vendor (only at home) but I have had them in Europe around Christmas time where there were vendors all over the street selling them. They have a different variety though and I do like them better than the ones here.

I've only had the ones here, from a street vendor, at a Christmas Festival. I must agree with @Kachina624

I remember when push cart vendors sold them but honestly haven't seen those carts of roasted chestnuts in 30 years at least. Never had one, they just seemed icky to me.

I agree too regarding the variety we have but I do love the European ones. They are sweet and delish, IMO!

I haven't had any in a long time. As I was growing up, our next door neighbors had three large chestnut trees on the property line. I used to pick them up when I got home from school and put them in large baskets. They have a prickly cover! Ouch! I used to love to roast them at the fireplace. I agree, though, there are tastier nuts, but I enjoyed the process of collecting them with my neighbors then roasting them in the fireplace.

I am the weird one. I love them. I roast them and put them in my stuffing at thanksgiving. When I was a little girl there were vendors in San Francisco. We would get paper cones with the roasted chestnuts.

I love them! I like them roasted or boiled and always have them in my "sausage and chestnut stuffing" Thanksgiving and Christmas, which by the way, I still put in the bird!

I think glazed marrons are chestnuts, but they are really very nice. They have sort of a caramel taste, and can be used over ice cream or pound cake

I like them. I bought some at Thanksgiving as they were just delivered and fresh.

We always had them growing up, so I guess I'm used to them and enjoy them.

Europe might indeed have a different variety. We suffered some type of disease that wiped many chestnut trees out, years ago
