Christmas cards with glitter should be outlawed!! If I can feel the glitter through the envelope--straight in the trash. i appreciate the thought, but not the glitter! i have tried to open them carefully, over the trash can, but still have to use the dust buster to clean up!! please don't send me cards with glitter--i have enough family to clean up after--don't like cleaning up after receiving a card! lol

Well, my goodness, what a jolly attitude to people kind enough to think of you. Perhaps you could tell them directly so that they won't waste their time, money and good wishes for you in future?

Personally, I love cards with glitter. I like to sparkle the world! But don't worry, I won't send you one.

I read the card....appreciate the thought, like i mentioned--but i don't like glitter.....i wouldn't, and don't, send cards with glitter because i don't know who likes glitter and who doesn't.

Do you mean the ones that are filled with glitter that flies out at you when you open the card? Those are kind of obnoxious.

Or, if you mean the ones that just have a little bit of glitter stuck to the design on the front - I think those are ok. Now that I'm thinking about it, the card I just got for my husband has some glitter on it. It's very pretty.

Boxed Christmas cards are a reflection of the sender, cards bought individually are bought with the recipient in mind. I don't like glitter either but never to the point that I wouldn't open a card from someone who was thoughtful enough to send it to me.

BTW, I was a greeting card sales rep for 30 years!

I hate glitter and glitter hates me! On anything!

When shopping, I'm careful of touching anything with glitter on it.

Even then, I always manage to get a piece of 2 on my face, that no matter how hard I try to wipe it off, I end up with a red mark from the wiping, but the glitter is still there and I can see it when I look down!

Grrrrr......

I hate glitter cards, too. I will usually open it carefully to read, then back in the envelope. It just gets everywhere!

I do understand the OP's sentiments about glitter cards. Glitter can get everywhere and can be a pain to clean up.

That said,I actually like receiving the cards. They stand out from all oftheothers.

I just checked the card I got for my husband and the glittery stuff on the front of the card is pretty tight. You'd have to scrape it with your fingernail or a knife to get any of it off. *whew* hehe

It is a beautiful card, though, and I know he'll like it.

LOL!!! Yes ITA with you. I always open mine over the kitchen sink. In the trash it goes if it has glitter on it. I don't want it all over my hands or my house. Surely they can find a way to use it so it does not get all over place. Great new invention for someone.

The last time I checked it wasn't (nor should it be) against the law to send glittered cards!

When my girls were in school, most of what they 'designed' had glitter on it! Many people love glitter.

If the OP doesn't like glitter, she doesn't have to open the card. However, I hope that the terrible people who sent her a glittered card find out she never opened it and threw it directly into the trash (me being sarcastic). I'm sure they have no idea how much she HATES glitter.

As for me, good grief! There are people who would love to receive a card, glittered or not.

People don't have a place to live. People don't have any loved ones or just lost a loved one. People don't have any food this Christmas (or any other day).....and the OP wants to outlaw 'glitter'? Are you kidding me?

Just throw the card away....end of discussion.

Lucky for us we have a vacuum cleaner. Today two (terribly thoughtless) people sent us cards with glitter. Maybe I should call and tell them, from now on if they plan to send us a card, please make sure there is no glitter on it.

This thread cannot really be serious.

We got a card today and the envelope was filled with loose glitter - my kitchen floor was covered , my shoes & socks and my t shirt. I went to the gym and a lady there was asking me if I glittered myself on purpose. She said it is in my hair and on my face and arms. Good Grief. Now the machines at the Y are glittered. Merry Christmas!!!

I do understand about the glitter. I have bought glitter cards and curse them at the same time as they go get everywhere even weeks later.

Most of the cards with glitter on them at the Hallmark Store had plastic sleeves that you can leave on when sending. I am not a fan of glitter but it still makes it easier for the recipient to decide if they wish to remove the plastic sleeve and display the card either way....

I have never received a card with glitter on it to the extent that some posters are claiming. In fact, I've never even seen a card with so much glitter that it was a problem to clean it up easily. I enjoy the "festive-ness" of a card with glitter......at least the cards that I've received.
