The Queen has a Cold

The Queen and Prince Phillip both have bad colds and unexpectedly cancelled their annual Christmas trip today. The English people are concerned because they are both in their 90s. Even a small illness could lead to something worse at their age.

They must really feel unwell. They are both such troopers. It is going to be a hard blow for the country, when they are gone

AT their ages it is easy for something that begins as a simple cold to morph into something life threatening. HOpefully they will both recover quickly.

They keep a remarkably busy schedule for people their age. She held a big luncheon at Buckingham Palace yesterday for members of the Royal Family not invited to Sandringham on Christmas Day. Maybe she and Philip caught something then, or ate something bad? We'll hope for the best.

At their ages, anything can turn into anything. The Queen is a great believer in homeopathy so hopefully they've been loading up on zinc and other remedies. From what we read, Prince Philip's health has been more shaky than the Queen's before this.

Just making conversation....I wonder what will be Camilla's title once Charles becomes king? I think her ex-husband is still alive. If he should pass then could she be queen?

The palace has stated "Queen" won't be in her title (per her and Charles' wishes.)

Adding: I think they try not to compete with Diana's memory.

I was thinking this morning after reading the announcement yesterday that I have no memory of her ever canceling anything for health reasons. Usually would have to be some sort of disaster to stop the Queen from fulfilling her duties and schedule. It will be so hard to loose them since I have cared for them my whole life since they are other living humans with hearts and families like our own. (Kindness is so easy and simple why not live it)

I believe Camilla would be called Queen Consort or Consort Queen, cannot remember.

Get well Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.

It seems they are feeling a bit better, because at the last minute, they were taken by helicopter to Sandringham

Thanks Cherry I had not heard that is good news. Could not imagine them missing Christmas with Grands and Great-Grands.

I was reading in the mainstream UK paper this morning (online) that they expected to still go, just delayed - and now your link. Makes me feel better. The helicopter is a great idea rather than the train, the transfers, etc. I wouldn't want that if I had a bad cold and I'm not 90! Hopefully they can both get lots of rest between now and Saturday.

A lot of people have colds in the winter and some of them are in their 90's and any 90 year old with a cold would be told to avoid travel, rest, get fluids yada yada yada. It's also possible, if not probably that just don't want to uproot themselves and have to contend with the hoopla of a big Christmas celebration.
