mad at our Mail Lady

So today we had several inches of snow but our lane is plowed but our mail lady stopped at the end of it took one look at it at kept going. She could've made it. It's not like there's a lot of snow on the lane. I got mad so I called the Post Office and they are going to talk to the Delivery Supervisor and see what he can do. i'm not expecting them to do much so I doubt they'd send her back out to deliver mail to our lane. She didn't even go up so nobody on our lane got mail. I could understand if there was no mail for me but I find it hard to believe that no one on our lane had no mail. Our old mail man would've went up but not her. Needed to vent so thanks for listening.

I could understand if the lane wasn't plowed and salted but it was. So there's like a coating of snow on it.

I guess the old saying "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor ... etc." doesn't apply any more. Than again, maybe it never did. Wikipedia says it's never been the Postal Service's official motto.

We don't even get mail delivery on saturdays in Canada.The postal workers there are used to snow and I don't remember missing a delivery ever.

Guess she doesn't know the creed. Our old Mail man would have come up. He would also bring any packages to our door along with any mail but this one leaves packages on top of our paperbox next to the mailbox. She was too lazy to come up. I hope they make her come back out our way and deliver our mail and do her job.

They'll probably fire her on Christmas Eve. I once worked for a company like that............. No kidding, every year, a couple people got the axe the day before Christmas.

According to Wiki, that "neither snow, nor rain, nor gloom of night......" has NEVER been the post office's motto/creed.

@Plaid Pants2 a postal worker told me the same thing. It seems that was written on a building they used. They didn't put it there , the prevous owner did. I don't know who the previous owner was, btw

I would be mad too. Probably the way it will be for everyone who lives on your lane all winter, if it isn't adressed now. Unless that was a sub mail lady.

I live in the Tetons. We have SNOW!

Our snowplows pile up the snow by the mailbox and then my mailman shoves a nasty gram into my box, explaining to me that if I want my mail, I must clear a 60 foot path in the street, so that he can glide in and out without effort.

It's an impossible task.

During particularly snowy periods I do without mail for days, which isn't too big a deal, since I can handle most of my business online.

I loathe the USPS. FedEx and UPS deliver without problems. It is just the postman who cannot be bothered to do his job and actually deliver the mail

I hate to always be the lone dissenter, but will it really ruin your weekend, or your holiday season if you don't get mail one day? Perhaps the delivery person did not feel safe considering how the street may have looked to her/him. Whatever the reason, I think you and yours will survive until your mail comes on Monday.

For me, I'd just blow it off and enjoy my weekend. I know I'd feel really bad if someone were injured trying to deliver a bunch of mail to me just because it's Saturday. And shame on the Postal Service if it fires people just at the holidays - especially because they were extra careful. I'm not sure it was the right thing to do to "turn her in".

I'm glad you complained. But I think this is a national problem. Our new mail lady has misdelivered my mail countless times. She recently dropped a large box by my door (which has the address well marked) that belonged to a neighbor. I complained to the local post office because I'd be darned if I'd do her job for her.

It seems to me that the bottom line of the mail carrier's job is to deliver the mail to the consumer. That's their only job. Maybe firing her on Christmas Eve would be good!

Long gone are the days when the Postal Service actually provided a conscious service and that is not the fault of the individual carriers. My current carrier services three high rise buildings, total about 850 residences, several commercial businesses, and two townhouse developments. He operates under a very tight timeline that's why I keep conversations with him to a minimum.

You're not the lone dissenter. I think the OP needs to get over it and move on. I can't believe what some people get upset and angry about. This would not be on my list.
