For Jeopardy fans -- sad

We watch the show religiously. We've been watching a young woman win for four days this week. I will admit that we found her a bit weird looking with an odd voice. Hmm...little did we know.

She applied for the show and asked that if she were accepted, could they please put her on as soon as possible. Why? She had Stage 4 cancer. She did make it, and they did honor her request. A few staffers knew, along with Alex Trebeck, but that was it. None of her competitors knew about her condition.

She died before the airing of the first episode. She asked that if she should win, she wanted the money to be donated to cancer charities, so they will be receiving her four-day total of $62, 001.

Yes, it made me realize that I tend to make judgments about contestants, and had I not read about Cindy in advance, I would have wondered about her weak voice. She had a fever and was on medication during the taping.

@AuntG, which makes her four-day winning spree all the more amazing, eh?

I just read about her story today; didn't realize it was made public earlier. In a way, I'm sort of glad that I didn't know while watching.

It is so gratifying that this brave young woman realized her dream to appear on Jeopardy. What's more, she put in an exemplary performance. Alex and few others knew she was terminal. Watching her is heartbreaking, but knowing that she realized her dream and was able to donate thousands to cancer research brings a little solace in the face of this tragedy.

What a shame. I really don't watch too much, but it's always been a good show. What a good person that she wanted any winnings to be donated to a very worthy cause. RIP

That is really sad that she passed. Good news though that she was selected for jeopardy and won. That was a nice sum for the charity.

We watch every night, also, and I had seen a short notice about her and that she had died shortly after.

We turned it on the other night and there she was. It was so sad I didn't want to watch, there has been so much lately to feel sad about.

I've been watching her, but had no idea she was ill. How brave of her to appear on tv, knowing that she was quite ill. She was very bright and had so much knowledge inside that head, it's a shame she could not have lived many more years to share her brilliance.
