Those TSV Hallmark Cards

FYI Most require an extra 21c postage. It's not the 21c that is annoying but it is the effort of getting to the post office for the extra or putting 2 regular stamps on the card.

I don't know but i think my grandaughter mailed hers with reg postage.She lives up stairs fro me and i mailed them for her but didn't notice postage at the time..When she comes back from dialysis i am going to ask her

When my husband took ours to the post office, he was told the reason for the extra postage was because all the beads, ribbons, extras on the cards required hand stamping. They are beautiful cards.

Costco has had a similar collection for a few years. I used to buy those and loved them - but the postage finally made me surrender. They also have lesser cards that are quite nice just not as nice!

Sam's Ckub has Expressions Hand Made Cards from Hallmark. They are beautiful 3D cards. And they do not need extra postage. I always weigh them on the postage scale at work before I mail them. I send them out every year.

It's not so much the weight of the envelope, it's the thickness. I purchased a special Hallmark card for my sister and I had to pay extra postage. The clerk at the post office put the envelope thru a special instrument to determine the thickness.

A lot of the pretty Papyrus cards I buy require extra postage if sent by mail. They aren't heavy...it's the thickness of the card that requires it to be hand stamped and not put through machines.

I give these to friends I see, or enclose them in gifts that I send to family members.

I ran into that last year with some beautiful cards I'd bought at BJs. I not only had to pay double postage because they were "just over the one ounce limit", but also the 21 cents for hand-cancelling. I paid more to mail each one than I did for the individual cards. And the ones I sent to family and friends in England.......OMG.

In fact, of seven cards I mailed, 5 were "just over" and 2 were "fine". And they were identical cards with nothing but my signature. She couldn't explain that at all.

I bought another box of similarly beautiful cards last year (thinking to use them this year), but they are sitting in the closet. I went out and bought pretty but simple cards that I made sure didn't weigh "just over". I refuse to spend a fortune on postage anymore.

I bought the TSV box of Hallmark cards and I love them! But I bought them with the idea that I wouldn't mail them...not so much because of the extra postage but because I would be afraid of some of the embellishments coming off in the mail. My intent is to give the cards to the recipients...most of my and my husband's relatives are in the area so we get together for birthdays. Every card I've given so far as been loved and complimented by the receiver!
