Anyone watching Dolly Parton's telethon for Gatlinburg?

It's on now, on Great American Country and I believe streamed also on other sites.

Yes! One of my friends does the supervising camera work for these shows (many of the country music awards shows, fan shows, etc., too). He said the atmosphere there was inspiring, with good people all around donating time, talent and money. Donations are still coming in. What a worthwhile cause for those who were hurt by this tragic fire.

I didn't know about it and I don't watch any of the country western channels. But checking it out, since other channels were mentioned, I see that our AXSTV channel is also showing it. Maybe I'll check it out.

I love Dolly Parton, although I don't like country western music at all, as she is really a treasure.

Hi, chicky! It aired twice last night -- the second time for the west coast viewers. It was shown on many Fox entertainment channel affiliates... that's where I saw it. Some of the country/western is crossover into other genres. Even though I grew up in the midst of hardcore country music fans, I didn't really appreciate it until I was older. I really love the more traditional bluegrass/folk music originating from the Appalachians, and even into Irish and Scottish folk traditions. I don't know if the show is still available for viewing. I hope it is, or will be.

When Reba McEntire came out and sang O Come All Ye Faithful, I sobbed. From my toes kind of sobbing.

It's my absolute favorite Christmas carol and it always makes me a little emotional, but last night I was a mess.

PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – Families who lost everything in the Gatlinburg and Sevier County fires will begin receiving checks Thursday from Dolly Parton’s My People Fund.

Thanks for posting this, @Marp! Isn't it wonderful? I saw on last night's news that the show will be repeated several times and also that donations still are coming in. It's a tough time for everyone to decide who or how to help others, especially at this time of the year, and it's heartwarming to see the outpouring of love and generosity.
