Micro Drones

Did you see the moving parts photo on the opening page of the other channel?

It shows a child manipulating a little drone which is flying close to her face, not far from her eyes.

Does anyone know anything about them? It looks dangerous to me.

"hatred" describes my feeling towards these things because you know they will end up being used inappropriately....I am especially concerned that children and animals may be harmed-I can just see these getting tangled in a child's hair along with other scenarios.....I don't want lectures that I am a joy killer. I hate them!

If law enforcement/ military, etc. need to use them, okay.

For just being a menace or a doing stupid things, no. I would get my broom and swat them down and stomp on them. End of problem.

These aren't the regular drones we've seen. These are smaller versions marketed for children to play with.

Not entirely sure that the fact these are labeled "drones" makes a difference here. For one thing, they don't have cameras, which is pretty much the point of a why anyone wants a drone except maybe Amazon. So they have these mini remote controlled "flying thingys" that sound cool because they're droooooones. But really they're very little different than any remote-controlled toy that has been available for 20 years or more except the label, so I wouldn't think they'd be any more dangerous than those long-existing toys. Dangerous with mis-use as many things are, but that's up to the parents.

They're marketed to kids 10 and older. Good thing because no adult would want one. They're *tiny* to the point of ridiculous, run for about 7-8 minutes before they need recharging, and only go up 100 feet (vs 300 for "real" drones).

Any kid who gets this is going to crash and burn it within minutes or lose interest because it has to be charged constantly. I would think they're a waste of money as toys that basically last half an hour before they're toast.

But IMO, as presented just average toys.

Not all remote controlled toys fly, or hover. I suppose some parents allowed kids to fly model airplanes in the house, I wouldn't.

When you have kids, you have to be one step ahead and see the possibility of an accident. IMO these are dangerous, but obviously a lot of people don't think so.
