SANTA CLAUS?

I sure did until my older sister grabbed me by the hand and took me to my parents' closet and showed me all the presents and told me there was no Santa. The magic was gone and I lost my zest for presents once I found out my parents spent their money and it wasn't magically from Santa. To this day I do not really like to get presents.

For sure! And, I remember finding out the truth. I was in second grade and will never forget what I was wearing and where I was sitting in the classroom.

No. I never believed it. I also never told my daughter that Santa was real, I never wanted to lie to her, I wanted her to be able to trust me. I did talk about Santa being representative of the spirit of Christmas.

Her dad used to play the part of Santa at church parties so that gave her a clue, also, lol.

When I was about 7 my brothers were telling me there was no Santa but I so strongly believed I just wouldn't trust them. I really really really wanted this one certain doll and I did not tell anyone but Santa - I so trusted he would bring it. Christmas came and , of course, I did not get the doll, and I was devistated. I guess I cried & cried because I thought Santa didn't bring it for me because I was bad. Anyway , I was so devistated my Mom decided the only thing to do was tell me the truth about Santa.I was the baby and I know it broke her heart to tell me. I got the doll for my January birthday. 2 years later we had a new baby brother - my older brothers enlightened him about Santa from the beginning - no more huge dissappointments at our house.

Of all the things that can harm a child in this life, I believe the least of all these is the belief in Santa Claus. I didn't believe for long , but it was magical while it lasted.

Same here. My older brother. Dang those older siblings. I was devastated.

Of course. When the doubts came and we asked questions we were told the stories of St Nicholas and other original Santa stories. The story of continuing to help other children with gifts on Jesus birthday gave Christmas a new and very real meaning. We never felt we were lied to. Santa Clause is the spirit of giving to others. My parents asked us to keep the secret until our friends/cousins learned the true meaning of giving. We all had parts in the Christmas story at church so that story is one we already knew and treasured. Regardless of our beliefs we all should give in anyway, big or small, that we can. Hopefully we carry the spirit in your heart all year.

Yes I did, as did my children. It a magical time for children, we also taught them what Christmas was really about, the birth of Jesus. We have picture with Santa and letters to Santa all of which I saved and can now look back on a very wonderful time for my family. I wouldn't have changed a thing for all the joy it brought.

I was not upset when I found out that "Santa" was really my parents.

I didn't feel like they "lied" to me. I knew that I could still trust them.

In fact, I still got presents from Santa up until my Mom passed.

Sure I did, and I was really disappointed when I found out that my parents were responsible. But my absolute biggest disappointment was when I learned that the Easter Bunny wasn't real. Probably because he brought me things I liked to eat, whereas Santa (Mother) thought I was about 6 until I was at least 14. Always got silly childish things at Christmas. Bad Santa!!

As far as I know, I never believed in Santa and my parents didn't play it up with my brother or I. I was much too logical for my age anyway. Even as a 5 or 6 year old, I was shocked that my friends couldn't figure out there was no way a person (even a magical one) could deliver all the gifts to everybody in our own little town in one night...much less our county, state, and the whole world.

That's exactly why I didn't believe in Santa. My parents said I kept asking them how someone could make all those deliveries in one night, how he got down a chimney, why didn't he give to poor kids who didn't get anything. On and on, I could not figure it out.
