What was your worst ever date?

I was seeing a guy - a lawyer - who took me to his office Christmas party in a big downtown hotel. Once we got there he just left me sitting there alone at a table full of people I did not know. They were nice folks and did talk to me and all , but I had no idea where my date was. Finally, I was walking around looking for him and found him & some girl making out in the coat room, on the floor. I stepped over them , found my coat and went home on the bus. What really upset me was I had spent money to get a really nice cocktail dress for that party.

I had his keys in my coat pocket though and I took them with me when I left and threw them into a trash bin on my way to the bus stop.

HSN had a contest last year for customers to list their cheapest date on their blog. They were to announce the winner on The Monday Night Show with Adam Freeman.

Adam read 3 entries, one of which was mine. Then at the end of the show announced I was the winning entry. I won a $25 gift certificate.

I looked at the Monday night show winners thread to find when this was. It lists the question and my answer:

Congratulations to the 10/19/15 winner, Vickie74!

We asked: What was the cheapest date you ever had?

You answered: Back in college my boyfriend asked if I'd like to go to the Symphony. I was surprised he'd want to go as that was not really the type of music he listened to. We went to an afternoon performance as we were poor college students. It wasn't until we got to the concert hall that I realized how poor.

Without telling me ahead of time, the only reason he took me there was because it was free. And why was it free? Because he had "volunteered" us to be ushers. Ushers at a venue I had never been at before.

The only upside was the music - Dvorak New World Symphony. It is one of my favorite pieces of music to this day despite how I was introduced to it.

I went to an autopsy once on a "date" with a pathology resident when I was a student nurse. However, I had never seen an autopsy so I was very interested in it.

I went out with a guy who I thought liked me - he was always nice, sweet etc and when he asked me to go with him to an informal jazz concert I said yes. While sitting there with him, in walks a fellow he knows who walks up to him and asks hey how ya doing? My date's reply was "other than having to look at her profile all night, not bad." I remember looking straight ahead and feeling the skin on my face burn with embarrassment and humiliation. I wanted to run but there was no where at that moment to go. When the concert was over he took me home and nothing was said between us. Eventually, I went to a doctor to ask how I could get my profile changed and was told there was nothing wrong with it. Not a little ski slope but so what. Forever grateful to that doctor. My date called me a couple more times but I refused to see him and he finally stopped. I think he just wanted someone he could taunt in public.

Yours was definitely worse. At least my boyfriend only made out with me. lol

That was terribly mean of him to do that to you. I am so sorry you had to go through that.

My worst date, there really wasn't one. But my best one was when my husband and I started dating. I was truly happy. No other date measured up to what I wanted, since I knew what I wanted, so it really, "was me, not them".

When I was in college, a fellow student asked me to go to a dance. He was studying aeronautical engineering and was obsessed. He brought a textbook with him and when we were not dancing he would open the book and show me pictures of engines.

In spite of this I liked him, but two more dates of looking at jet engines did it for me. I moved on.

My type! Would have loved him showing pictures. Goes to show! What one doesn't like is another's fancy.

Oh mercy - that is terrible but very funny at the same time. Two goods things happened that day - you 'volunteered' and where enlightened to new music.

Senior year of High School the class hunk asked me to go to our teams Basketball game.I was blown away that HE wanted ME to go out with him.....

He spent the whole night talking to ther girls and I realized how stuck on himself he really was. When he asked me out again and I said NO.....I remember the look of shock on his face.......

About 20 years ago, I had a date with a handsome guy who was Bolivian and taught Portuguese at a local university (he looked just like Al Pacino). The date was going well and he asked me to come with him to his house for a glass of wine before going home. He was very charming, so yeah... I went with it. At his house, i asked to go to a bathroom and he just happened to be heading for the downstairs bathroom himself---so he simply told me to go to one upstairs. On my way, I noticed all kinds of "family photos" on the wall!! As it turns out, I discovered that he was in a long-term relationship with the owner of the house (not married, but living together with her and her young son)!! She was out of town on business at the time and the son was staying with a relative! Talk about slime! The whole thing makes me laugh now.

1986 Genesis World Tour concert in Dallas. My date was the brother of a girl I worked with. I had never met him but agreed to go to the concert with him and another couple (whom I knew).

The guy picked me up in a dented 70s Impala with the seats covered in duct tape repairs, and he's loopy. Asks me if I want a "doobie" before we go. Um....no. We get to the concert venue and our seats are up in the nosebleed section. He kept passing a doobie down the row to see if I wanted to partake, and I kept saying no.

The music was great and I focused on that. Drive home was pretty tame (the other couple was in the car, thankfully) and we dropped them off at their car. He then drove me home, asked if I was sure I didn't want a doobie. I again said no and hurriedly got out of my duct taped seat. Said goodnight and got to my apartment where I promptly locked the door behind me. Took a shower to get the doobie smell off of me.

That Monday his sister asked me if I had a good time. I said I enjoyed the concert but didn't think her brother was my type. He asked me out a few more times but I always declined.

Unfortunately attempted date rape, I was 16. Boy I learned quickly what sort of men to stay away from.

Not really dates, but...I traveled a lot for work and refused to sit in my hotel with room service. I would often grab a seat at the bar in a restaurant and would get hit on from time to time by the slimiest characters. The "worst" and funniest one was a man who was old enough to be my father. Despite all of my rejections, he wasn't going to give up. His last attempt at wooing me was to whip out his bottle of Viagra, wash one down with a beer and say "c'mon baby, you don't want to waste this, do you". It was hilarious.
