Delta is testing free food on some transcontinental flights in the main cabin..

i find that to be ridiculous.

i guess they dont want you to fly with any luggage at all.

Yes, I heard that on the news. All carry-on luggage has to fit under the seat, or you have to pay for the overhead. Some people will likely end up with luggage on their laps.

I think Frontier Airlines already charges for carry ons that don't fit under the seat. I always try to fly Southwest when I can.

Aren't things supposed to be safer overhead? Also adds to discomfort in traveling. Purely taking advantage of travelers and adding to travel discourtesy to fellow travelers. (Road rage in the skies!)

I don't fly but that's ridiculous. Gas prices have gone down so why are they still charging for all these extras?

If I have to fly some place I think I would ship my stuff to my destination via UPS.

Flyers (most) have figured out many ways to pack so they only have a carry on. Baggage fees, lost luggage, etc got to be so ridiculous, creative packing was born.

The airlines do not like that people are not paying all the baggage fees they now charge. Some of the fees are astronomical. I don't blame people for only using carry on.

So now they are going to charge for overhead space? Watch how fast the public takes them down for that. They tried last year to make the size of a carry on so small everyone would have to check their bags. People went nuts! People would have had to buy new luggage if they wanted to fly with just a carry on bag. Airlines backed away from that idea fast.

So now they are going to try charging for overhead space. It never ends.

Greed, pure greed imo.

I think it's greedy, too, but...someone has to pay for all that security...guess who...it's not going to come out of their pockets, that's for sure.

They are offering a new cheaper fare that only allows one personal item which must fit under your seat. Otherwise you can still use the overhead bins as usual. So, kind of yes and no that they are charging for using the bins.

I still say assign overhead bin space to the seats directly under it. Just last week I flew United, the amount of stuff passengers brought onboard was ridiculous. By the time we reached our seats, the bins were full. Luckily both my sister and I checked a bag and were carrying a tote/purse that fit under the seat in front of us.

I just always fly Southwest and don't worry about all the sneaky fees. Fortunately they fly where I always want to go.

I think the airlines should go back to free baggage and change the carryon rule to one small bag. I flew recently and it was nuts how much stuff people carried on. Plus they were regional jets where you check your smaller rollon in the jet bridge for free. It impacts more than just you when you try to stuff two bigger bags in the over head bin.

When my mother comes to visit me, we FEDEX her stuff. It makes it easier for everyone. One less thing for us to worry about. We have to check her in and make sure she gets a wheel chair, etc.

Spirit Air does that. And they charge for luggage under your seat. I think you can bring on ONE item like your purse; anything else you pay extra for and if it's at the gate the charge is higher than the charge for checking it at the counter.
