Worst Christmas song ever?

I saw on the news this morning that the song "Christmas Shoes" was voted the worst Christmas song ever. I know why I don't like it, I feel people are exploiting a very sad subject just to make a lot of money. What do you feel about this song?

Never heard it that I know of. I hate Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and hate Jingle Bell Rock.

I never heard that one either, but my least favorite is "l Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." Tacky, IMO.

I can't remember the title of the song but it's something about Grandma getting run over by a reindeer.

I like Christmas Shoes. I don't feel like it's exploitation at all. Many songs have someone dying as the premise of their lyrics. It's a very real thing that happens and many families have to deal with missing a loved one (or loved ones) at Christmastime. I know I do. We've been NewSong fans from way back. Eddie Carswell is an excellent songwriter and tenderly approached the topic from the perspective of what a business man observed about the boy and himself because it was him who gave the boy the extra money to make up the difference on what he was short to buy the shoes. The businessman had gotten so caught up in his own life that he was missing part of what Christmas was about and he finally "got it" when he saw how much it meant to the boy to give his mom that special gift.

I dislike all Christmas music. Really, really dislike it. "Silent Night" makes me physically ill....like I want to throw up when I hear it. I think it's a revolting song.

While I do love Christmas music, I have several I simply can't stand. Blue Christmas and All I Want for Christmas is You are a couple that come to mind.

I knew the end of the world was near when I heard a group of elementary school children at my younger daughter's Christmas Show singing "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Groan.

I'm not a big fan of xmas music either. There are some of the oldies that I like but more that I don't like than do like.

My favorite is O Holy Night by Josh Groban.

My most disliked is Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.

And to answer your question, don't like Christmas Shoes.

Hm.

That just made me think of Sinead O'Connor's singing of Silent Night. It's the most beautiful version I ever heard.

Also, the original in German is beautiful, too. (I think.)

One of my favorite Christmas songs is the Holly and the Ivy. Also, a German song, "Leise rieselt der Schnee."

"The Little Drummer Boy" is my least favorite. Especially the "pa rum pa pum pum" part.

I love Christmas music and have lots of favorites, both secular and religious. As much as I love my dog, I do not like the dogs and barnyard animals barking and clucking out any songs.

One of my favorite is Merry Christmas Darling sung by Karen Carpernter boy do I miss her voice

I don't like Do They Know It's Christmas, and Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart. Neither have much to do with Christmas (other than the time they were recorded) but are played just because the word Christmas is in the song.
