The Walking Company has good sale on Uggs starting today through the weekend. Just ordered the Brea and Blayre for DILS. Saved almost $100 and free shipping. They also pay the sales tax if your state charges it on shoes. Very good deal.

I just bought a pair of UGG gloves at TJ Maxx last weekend. They were a little less than half the retail price on the tag but still expensive. However, they are the warmest gloves I have ever put on my hands. Love 'em.

For 2 years now I've tried to find a specific kind of UGGS for my granddaughter. Now it's not the color that's important, it's the bottom of the shoe that matters to her and her friends. The problem is the bottom (of the freaking shoe) was a kind that was popular 2 years ago! I kept saying, "Emily, those are old shoes. These are the same, they just have newer treads". She now tells my daughter that "OK, I'll go with grandma Annabelle and we'll get the new Uggs".

I've been laughing so hard. Remember a day way back when what was so important as what design was on the bottom of the shoes? She's a wonderful kind person. She's a girl scout and helps others. She might seem self-involved. But she isn't anymore than any other 14 year old kid is. I just think it's funny that the bottom is so important. And.....I'm relieved that it's now OK to purchase the new(er) Uggs! I'll just thank 'the Donald', he gets thanks and blames for everything...why not this? Ha!

This has been an awful rumor regarding this company and it is believed to have originated with PETA (who themselves have an agenda above and beyond stopping cruelty to animals).. Here is some info right from UGGS:

Sheep are actually raised mostly for the food they provide. Therefore, all the by-products from butchering the sheep would be thrown away if someone didn't use them for other purposes. Pig skin was actually thrown away without much thought after slaughter until someone developed a way to tan the skin and use it. Isn't it more respectful for the animal to use all components? Most farmers take care of and treat their animals incredibly well with humane procedures in place for butchering them.

Here's a discussion asking for opinions if the public believes that PETA exaggerates in order to promote their agenda, which I found interesting.

When I see women wearing uggs I think they look like they're shlepping barely able to walk correctly because they look completely flat. Never tried them on so have no idea but they have a cavemanesque quality I don't find appealing. I like my shoes to have some support and not make shuffling noises when I walk.

I thnk the shuffling and poor walking is a result of poor posture/habits, not something inherent in the Uggs.

Granted. if you need support in your shoes, Uggs arent a good choice. I have very strong high arches and instep so I am able to walk normally even in Uggs. I dont wear these exclusively but enjoy them when very cold weather sets in.

I get cold feet/hands easily.

The problem with Uggs that you end of being flat foot, absolutely no support and ends up being very uncomfortable. Sorry I ever bought Bearpaws with the flat footbed -- horrible. I never wear them unless there is over a foot of snow and don't like to wear them.

The ones I bought today are not your typical uggs. One pair has a 3 inch heal , the other 11/2 inch. These are waterproof and water resistant. I have the caveman style. They are flat and no support at all. These are more supportive.
