Hallmark Christmas Movie Addiction

I admit it. As a whole I enjoy these movies so much. Some are better than others but they bring joy to my soul. I hope they do do for you too. May you all find joy and peace in these days ahead, for they are also stressful and trying.

I enjoy many of them, but they have just gone off the rails with the repetative romance plots. How many princess from commoner stories, or how many wake up in an alternate universe moves can we really use.

Hallmark makes great other movies, that focus on the meaning of the holiday without the romance, and I'd love them to do many more of those.

We don't get the "Hallmark Movies and Mysteries" channel, and they seem to have moved a lot of their good moves over there.

I not only like Candace Cameron Bure's movies, I actually have a favorite one.

For the past few years DH and I watched every new Hallmark Christmas movie and most we did not like/not realistic last year. We won't be watching this year. The worst one was last years Mariah Cary's Christmas movie last year. Terrible.

I watch and enjoy them a lot too and also have some favorite actresses and some not so much.

I agree that the Hallmark movie channel has some better ones overall than the regular Hallmark with all the sometimes stale romances, though some are good.

But on the whole, I find myself smiling thru-out a lot of them,

and yes they make me happy and thankful to have something uplifting to watch!

I love them!

FYI: the new ones have already started. My daughter and I watched the new "Christmas Cookie" movie and enjoyed it, better plot than most imo.

She and I started watching Hallmark Christmas movies year ago and the tradition continues.

My all time favorite is A SEASON FOR MIRACLES, I love it and it has Patty Duke in it. I highly recommend it.

They all basically have the same story lines. Someone inherits a pumpkin farm, Christmasland, house, or something. The man/woman is always meant to be with someone else. They all end up leaving a dull relationship for a more exciting/loving one. They all could be a country western song.

When Hallmark first started these, the romance was more of a sub plot, and there was a lot of other seasonal interest (charity, gratefulness, helping your fellow man, children) and they were a little more family based. Most of the newer ones are cheesy modern thirty something romances, and getting old quite quickly.

I work during the week, but on Saturdays I often have them on as background. They are all predictable...but sometimes it's just nice to turn off my brain and escape!

What I really love seeing in these movies is all the beautiful decoratiions...everything in the town and people's houses are done to the max. Oh, and there's almost always snow! Many people around here decorate their homes on the outside, but most of the city/town decorations in my area are minimal and pitifully old. And if it snows at all here, it's not til February!

Yes! This is what I'm talking about. So much more than the romance in this movie. I love this one too.

And there is "A Dog Named Christmas" and "Christmas In Canaan" and "The Christmas Shoes" and "Silent Night" (the one with Linda Hamilton), and many others.

Some of these may not be Hallmark movies, but my point is that there are some really moving and 'reason for the season' based movies out there. Hallmark is just an assembly line for some B (and grading lower each year) movies anymore.

I record them all. Some of these actresses are soooo gorgeous! It's funny too that they all have good jobs and fancy houses!! I'd like to see one with a Roseanne character living in Sanford & Sons house!! Lol.

@Mominohio I think that is what has changed as they all seem to be fantasy romance movies now. The older movies had a good plot like you mentioned helping others in needs, good heart movies to be thankful and about family.

I enjoy the Mrs. Miracle movies and saddened By Doris Roberts' passing. Yes, some of these movies get repetitive but it's only for a bit over a month and it's a change. "Christmas With Holly" is one of my favorites - love that the uncles step up to help theiir niece. HOPE and PEACE.
