My Wen Story

Before continuing, This isn't hating on Wen. Please, Wish Chaz and Wenners, The very best. Thank you for helping. Shared when first beginning my journey with Wen realized from several kind ladies there's a learning curve. Happy to report suggestions worked. As of this writing and my testing personal situation concerning thin grey hair (mine) problem is the first day after cleansing my hair looks lovely, Day 2 starts going limp, Day 3 stringy mess feels tacky. Though I own couple styling products from Wen I'm speaking of hair without any products. Hence, My reason for sharing. Belive there isn't a one size fits everyone with any product. Great news is!! Gifting BGT CC DIL she has curly long thick hair. Purchased two 32 oz Sept private access sale the other one gifting to mail lady, Sweetheart know she'll enjoy. I find your post very puzzling!!!! On the Wen forum you rave about how much you love Wen. You actually have a thread talking about how much you love Wen. Which is it......do you love it or hate it?????

Are you saying you do not use any styling products?

I have the same problem you have ,my hair needs to be washed every other day or the 3rd day I am a greasy mess. I too have stopped using any styling products and find I at least I can go 3 days if I am not going anywhere.......lol

I honestly do not know how anyone can go a week. If I use the replenishing treatment it gets dull and like straw the next day. If I use the styling product ,my roots get greasy no matter how little or much I use and I put it only on my ends and stay away from my scalp.

I do cleanse 1 day a month with my old Pantean. I have,old, fine natural blonde hair

I am not mocking WEN either,I have been using it for 13yrs and would never use anything else

I, too, was a little confused with the original post.

Are we missing something?

In a recent 'grey' post, praises for Wen was given

to beautiful hair (which it is...gorgeous!),

but today I'm seeing "limp" & "stringy mess".

Or are you trying to say those WERE problems,

but with Wen they are not...?

Why would this original post encourage me to purchase

a product which,

- costs more than drugstore brand,

- availability is lessened vs a drugstore brand,

- footprint is larger than a drugstore brand (mail packaging)

- did I mention costs more? Way more? Than a drugstore brand?

If limp & stringy mess is the result on an expensive, harder to get than a drugstore brand, then....I'll give you FREE, zero, no dollars!

Just don't wash your hair.

Sometimes our hair changes due to many things... Products that worked for awhile may cease to do what they did in the past. No matter what haircare I use, I have to wash my hair every day or other day. Wen I interchange with other professional brands. Don't give up on wen ...maybe just don't use it exclusively.

I could never get away with not washing my hair every day. I have very think, but baby fine hair, and when I wake up in the morning it doesn't look like I want it to. I tried wen, but it wasn't for me

My head of problems precludes me trying ANYTHING new and until I can get it figured out I will just keep trying.

About five years ago, my hair routine just fell apart. Mine is due to changing hair texture due to the fact that I am now gray all over (underneath the color!)

So I empathize with any whose hair looks stringy (yes)

Color just sits on top of hair and causes it to be stringier

Color doesn't "take"

My scalp is now hypersensitive, causing me to run away from it! LOL

you are "praising wen" but you cannot use it because it didnt work on your hair the way you wanted it to so you gave it away?

More importantly where is it written that one can't change their mind? Seems from previous comments some seem to forget that. Lucky me! I never go by the popular vote. 😉

I think I get what you're saying. Perhaps you could mix things up a bit with your WEN routine. I noticed you mentioned that you have thin grey hair, so perhaps I could offer some suggestions.

If you're having trouble with WEN as a means to clean your hair, you can try Nick Chavez' Brass Out Violet Shampoo.

The part of the description of it says, "natural proteins add body and gloss."

And then after you wash your hair, maybe you can try using WEN as a hair mask, since it's so rich and creamy, and then rinse it out.

Or, if WEN as a hair cleanser is working for your hair, but you're having trouble with any of the WEN styling products, maybe you can try some of these Nick Chavez styling products if you like.

Nick's Velvet Mesquite Serum is good for making the hair soft and managable, but it's not sticky or greasy.

This one here is Nick's Traditions Aloe Volumizing Gel Whip. It says it will give the hair body and volume, so that may help your thin hair. It's also alcohol-free, if that helps.

So I hope you find something good and a good routine that helps your hair.

Nick's Gelp Whip is part of his Traditions line, a very underrated line in my opinion. I think it used to be on QVC, but it's only on Nick's site now that I know of. Most of Nick's Traditions products on QVC don't even have a product video.

No, I'm not part of the Facebook group. I only post on the QVC forum.

Fortunately, I've found a product video of this product, so you can watch it if you like and see if you like it. But it's not available on QVC right now and don't know if it will come back.

I don't use the RTM, except extremely rarely. In fact most of the time I don't use the styling products at all. My hair is almost to my waist though and thick and wavy so I'm trying to control volume most of the time not create it.

I don't think it's unusual for people to have hair that looks dirty ( IE stringy) three days after cleansing. Even with Wen.

Before Wen ideally I needed to cleasne at least every other day. Now I cleanse 1-2x a week.

Nothing is worse than trying to figure out something that works!

I always have something of Nick Chavez in my shower. His products work for me and I always fall back on them. I do switch things up alot trying different shampoo and conditioners, but always default to Nick. Tried and true. (Right now I am alternating between Nick and a L'Oreal Shampoo/Conditioner that is really working for my hair!)

Don't give up! Have you chatted with your hair stylist about your situation? A good place to start maybe!
