Christmas Decorations

Did anyone notice QVC didn't seem to have as many Christmas decorations for sale this season as in other seasons. Once in a while you can catch Valerie Parr Hill and there have been shows with Christmas trees but I just feel like other years there were so many decorations you could purchase that they just don't have this year. I wish they would bring back Thomas Paconi.

I agree with you. I don't understand their new marketing, it's the same old, same old boring stuff over and over.

They used to have great specials you could count on for the holidays, especially holiday makeup, a really nice watch, holiday clothes, etc. It was always fun to see the latest TSV, now, not so much.

I noticed with ED on Air decorations a lot of reduced prices which surprised me. I ended up purchasing some beautiful candles on sale from ED. I thought the Christmas decoration programs were the same for Valerie but I do not watch the vendors selling trees so I don't know if they had a lot of shows.

I noticed in my neighborhood that fewer and fewer people put up outdoor decorations every year. Even the stores have been putting up cardboard cut-outs instead of the lavish decorations of years back.............. Also, no banners and lights over the streets in shopping areas. Bah Humbug.

@jenjen1127 Lots of decor shows are gone...

I miss the Linda Dano and Lisa Robertson's decor shows. ED and Jill had some shows, but their decor choices just don't suit my tastes. The only decor I bought from one of Jill's shows was a pair of baby polar bears

They just repeat most of the stuff from July 1st on it seems with very few new items added over the following few months. I personally think a lot of their stuff is kinda tacky with a good item thrown into the mix once in a while. Or, a lot of the stuff you can find very similar at stores in your area - yes I know - no value pays, but probabaly cheaper anyhow.

I mean seriously, how many battery operated things does one need just sitting around their home?

I absolutely adore Ellen, but her Christmas items do not appeal to me. I like "earthy" somewhat; however, hers are a bit much for my taste. I also miss Lisa even though some of hers were a bit "over the top". Nice to have a choice, I guess. Valerie is the best !! I hope she never leaves the Q.

@pattypeep ITA! Last week I ordered 2 of her mosaic hurricanes in the multi (H209767) and should be getting them on Monday. What did you order from Valerie this year?

@Susan Louise It would almost be easier to say what I didn't buy. I also received the multi mosaic hurricane ~ you won't be disappointed. It is stunning. I only went back to Sept. on my orders, but what I received are two sets of pedestals, the illuminated wax glistening trees, the silver sleigh, antiqued pinecone tree, the vintage bells in silver, the twig branch sprays, two sets of beaded garlalnd, two glitter trees and beaded fruit candle rings. I apologize in advance if these weren't all VPH. I get confused sometimes when Jill discusses her items in conjunction with Valerie. PS and by the way, I didn't need a thing this year, but....the best laid plans of mice and men.

I have to admit that those decor shows make me claustophobic with everything all over the place. And I know that is done to show them off for sale, but it drives me crazy. I. I have a few items that I love but as of the last few years, have not put them on display. I maybe get a tree and decorate it but not much more. Am tired of clutter like that. Xmas is not a fave of mine as I worked for 12 years in retail where ever square inch was crammed full of all that stuff. And it was around for maybe 3 months at least. Makes me shudder!!

For my two cents don't think people are that interested in spending their $ on decoration items anymore. Have noticed that a local craft store is practically giving things away to get their inventory out the door. When Valerie's beautiful little wax trees were put on clearance to less then half price, said a lot about how bad they needed to move their inventory. Those little trees (set of three) are beautiful. I purchased two sets for price of one at regular price.

While I do enjoy my many battery operated items throughout the late Fall to early Spring, I am glad that Q has finally started going with more "C" cell batteries which last considerably longer then any "AA" item I own.

Well, it's stil early, Christmas is still weeks away. I know more and more people are decorating for Christmas right after Halloween but most people still don't go into Christmas mode until after Thanksgivng.

@pattypeep Wow! You got a lot on great treasures! I hope you will post some pics when you decorate

I know, same here! This year, for me, it started with those hudson Luminara lanterns during the CIJ...got 2 of the bronze. At least I didn't go overboard like the past few years and I reigned myself in a bit for a change. Besides VPH decor, last year I got a lot at P1, Pottery Barn, and Grandinroad too...LOL..Oy.

On the upside, what's the harm...it brings us joy, right?

I can't wait to get those VPH mosaic hurricanes tomorrow!

@Susan Louise: I can't wait for you to see your hurricanes. I also got four items from Grandin Rd. and a few things from Amazon. Love GR, but wait for sales. Would love to hear how you like your new hurricanes.

We have complained endlessly in the holiday forum about the lack of holiday decor programming this year, and even with the shows, the lack of new and interesting decor. QVC seems to have dropped the ball this year. I will say, my favorite local small businesses are not carrying as much or as exciting product as in years past either. I just have to wonder if Christmas decor sales are down and they don't want to have a lot of leftover stock to sell at reduced prices.

As for Ellen's things, I have to wonder how much longer she will be here. A lot of her things show up on LTS and clearance, and I just feel like a lot of people post liking to watch but don't buy. Personally, I find her things a bit overpriced, because they are all made by Q vendors (like Berkshire) and then marked up a few dollars because the have Ellen's name on them.
