Not me. You can text me all day long, quick statement or long conversation. Either way, it's ok with me. I far prefer texting to actually talking on the phone.

I know! I have a few people in my life who will text or email if they want to talk. I think they don't want to spend a lot of time on the phone and a text and especially an email is easy to just end. A phone call can go on for hours.

They both work. Sometimes just a short text will do the job. I've been known to text some long texts but I know the people in my life and I'm capable of knowing which works best at that particular time. My oldest daughter is the mother of 4 very busy children and she runs her husband's business. She doesn't have time to sit and chat on the phone. When she wants to have lunch with me (a few times a month) she'll text me and we set up a date and sit an visit with each other face to face.

I have a friend who's phone is so old Jesus carved here when he was on earth. It doesn't do anything. It would be so easy to be able to text her about meeting for lunch/dinner like we do 4 times a week.

Short and to the point texts are fine but I don't want to discuss "War and Peace" via text either.

I find long texting conversations to be tiring and actually irritating.

If it's a long text, my phone will throw the last part of the text out first.

Happened last week and I told the person they accidently texted me instead of someone else.

But in the meantime while my text was heading to them, the rest of their text came in and then it made sense it was for me.

Hard to explain, but it was a pain.

There's rarely a conversation that I think can't be conveyed over text. I largely prefer texting over talking on the phone.

Texts are fine for simple questions and notifications but if a discussion is needed call. Even though I don't like talking on the phone if depth is needed it is necessary.

Before I ever started texting, I thought it was just a strange way to communicate with friends and family. Perhaps because to me it seemed so abrupt; kind of cold and off putting.

Then I started texting and now I understand. It has its purpose. I enjoy using it as a communication tool, but not exclusively. I still enjoy face-to-face, telephone and even emails; each have their value to me.

I text all the time with my daughter and husband, but I'd rather be on the phone for 30 minute conversations.

I text my parents, husband , grandparents, brothers and SIL's and in-laws daily. We're far flung across the country.

I guess the point is reaching out and maintaining ties.

Most often we end of calling.

Not for me. None of my family or friends text. I'm strictly a phone person

Texting is like email - let's not talk anymore but communicate in typed words. No interaction with people. I think it can be fun but not on a regular basis. Talking to your friends is much more personal and fun. :catvery-happy:
