So about a year ago a cat choose us to take care of her and her 4 kittens. Once I discovered them I fed them everyday. They were all very skittish around me so I fed them and sat there and watched them. The momma cat soon became very friendly and loving. A year later and they now will stay on the porch when they know they are being fed but not one of those kittens will let me touch them. I never did force myself on them but I did sit and talk with them. I'd sit on the porch and they would watch their mom rub against me and watch as I stroked her. So I keep wondering why the momma doesn't tell her kids that I'm ok. A couple months ago one of those kittens had kittens. She brought them up on the porch for me to care for when they were very young. I brought all 4 of them in and taught them to eat. I did that twice a day every day to all 4 of them. When they were done eating I would cuddle them for a minute or so and then let them go. Now one of those kittens is super friendly and one will run if I even come near. I just find it interesting that cats can't tell other cats that a certain human is safe.
