Hi, everyone. I'm just curious if Amazon does its own deliveries in every state? I believe they first started with trial runs in San Francisco earlier this year. I'm in Portland, OR and we started getting our deliveries from them several months ago (at least that long). And I believe they started their own deliveries in the U.K. in 2014, based on an article I saw.

All I know is they're awesome. They're polite, they always ring the doorbell, while UPS and FedEx just drop their packages and run (time is money). Just now, the young lady introduced herself. And they even try to hide my packages and not simply leave them dead center of my front porch. It's like how UPS used to be.

Anyway, just curious if you're noticing Amazon's expansion?

Amazon doesn't have it's own delivery service in my area and frankly I'd rather that delivery services not ring the doorbell or knock unless I have to sign for a package. All that does is set my dogs off barking and besides I get a text message everytime something delivered. Not that I expect them to read my mind.

I'm usually home when deliveries are made, and so more often than not, I'm at the door when I hear them. Today I was in the back of the house, so it was nice that they rang.

We have a problem up here where people follow the delivery trucks so they can steal the packages. So the shortest time on the porch, the better. No small kids to wake, no barking dog to disturb, so the doorbell isn't a problem for me. 😊

I'm not usually home for most of my Amazon deliveries, so I haven't noticed. I know in my area they use the post office for Sunday deliveries.

We also have Amazon Prime Now in my area, so any my Prime Now orders are dropped off by a separate service with Amazon employees. Prime now delivers some electronics, some groceries, and some household items. Where other local grocery delivery services pick the groceries up at a local grocery store, Amazon has their own warehouse of items. I use Prime Now 3-4 times a month.

I live in a rural area and I'm sure it's not on Amazon's radar as far as these deliveries. We don't have any Prime Now or 2-hr window. As far as I have paid attention, all my deliveries have been by professional companies.

Whether I would think it's a good thing would depend on where they left a package, i.e. how safe is it. I have read that these "Uber for Amazon" drivers are tracked to see how many deliveries they can make, and the way they're paid would mean the more deliveries the better.

To my knowledge (I am in a somewhat small city, as cities go), not here.

I get my Amazon orders either from UPS or OnTrac, and sometimes USPS from third party sellers.

Also, lately, I've been getting my monthly Amazon order (which is a large box that also contains a 30# bag of dog food) from some sort of 'Sunday Delivery USPS' service.

In my area, they typically deliver in a white vehicle with the Amazon "A" on the side. So far, so good. Very nice people delivering.

All of my recent orders have been delivered by USPS. There are two Amazingly n Fulfillment Centers nearby so it surprises me that they don't deliver some themselves. But most of my orders come from out of state.

I think mine are still coming by USPS or UPS, but I'm not a Prime member. I live in a condo where the front porch is totally exposed to 23 other condos and is very near the sidewalk. I like that they usually deliver larger packages to my back doorstep, which is hidden inside my fenced in patio area. Sometimes, however, the mail carrier delivers to the front where my mailbox is.......especially when it's a small package. Scary, but no problem so far.

My latest Amazon delivery was late afternoon on Sunday. I live on a corner lot and happened to be in the back yard. I was checking a sprinkler problem and I was looking over the breezeway gate into the side yard. I noticed a white van turn down the street and then do a u-turn. He drove up, shouted my full name (which shocked me) and said he just wanted to tell me he had dropped off a box for me on the front porch. I rarely use my front door since my garage is on a different street and I enter through the back door. I, of course, check my mail by the front door every weekday, but this was on Sunday, so I certainly wouldn't have checked out front. I was grateful that he hunted me down and told me.

Amazon doesn't do "self" deliveries here yet. A 100+ year old warehouse building three miles from my home is being converted to a huge Amazon distribution/fulfillment center.. I don't remember when it will be completed, but I do remember reading that they will have same-day delivery to customers within a certain radius of the facility.

I don't know about every state or even every city but here in my part of MA, Amazon does have it's own Delivery trucks. The drivers are in uniform and the cars have the Amazon logo. They are efficient and polite but to be fair, so are the UPS and Usps people. What I really like about Amazon delivery is that if you are not home when they try to deliver, they come back late in the day or the next business day. That was a total surprise to me. I went out one Sunday and missed my delivery and the driver came back around 7pm at night. He said if the miss somone, they are supposed to circle back before they end their day. I actually just got a delivery. I work from home and I needed some spiral notebooks. I was not going into the office just for that and so I found a 12 pack on Amazon for some sill low price Saturday night and they delivered them about an hour ago. I love my Amazon!

Even about 10 yrs ago when I stopped working outside of the home, the last 5 years were filled with more and more pressures to do things faster, more efficient, faster, more efficient, meetings about meetings about how we could be more efficient...

I reached the breaking point and just hung up my hat so to speak. I'm a human being, not a robot. I also felt that job security didn't exist anymore. There is nothing worse than feling parinoid every day...wondering if you did enough by the end of the day so you didn't get a pink slip. My health was more important and thankful my DH agreed.

I remember when working a job felt good. You could go home and feel like you accomplished something and you did a good day's work...and have job security

Nowadays, I couldn't even imagine still being in the workforce and have peace of mind. I worked 2 full time jobs with mandatory OT for nearly 25+ yrs...also having other jobs before and after that stretch (so I didn't work just 25 yrs in my lifetime...LOL

This hasn't happened yet, where I live, but since my Prime Deliveries aren't being deliverered on schedule, I'd be happy if they started to use it here.
