REMEMBER DICE IN CARS??

I was a teenager in the late 50's and early 60's and if you were a girl with a boyfriend that had a car you just might have knitted him some angora dice to hang on his rear view mirror!! I made my boyfriend, now my dh, some in baby blue to match his little "57 Ford"! They looked so cute when they would swing and twirl as we drove around!! Those were the days!! Remember?

In my neck of the woods, it wasn't dice. It was a fox tail on the car antennas.

I still see those fuzzy dice hanging on rear view mirrors around here. I don't think they ever went away.

I was just thinking about them a couple of days ago, visualizing light pink with black dots! I'm wondering why stores aren't offering them. Or are they? They would be cute as plush dice handbag charms. I've been seeing the large faux fur round handbag charms, but not dice.

As a little girl, I wanted my father to hang dice in the family car. My mother vetoed that request.

The young 'guys' sure took pride in their cars in those days. I remember a date polishing off my fingerprint with a soft polishing cloth, lol. They took pride in working and saving to buy or work on a car and seemed to take very good care of their prized possession/hobby.

I remember the dice. My brother even had a name on the dashboard "Shy One." ha! He also had a movable hula girl with grass skirt in the rear window. Those were the days when things were joyful and fun with no computers or cell phones and everyone racing about.

driving through Lancaster , PA I saw a pair of foam dice hanging from inside an Aish buggy driven by a teenager.

kids will always be kids, lol.

Sure do. Never was my thing probably because I have never liked anything that even came close to blocking any of my view of the road, still don't.

Hows about the Knicker-Knob-aka The Neckers Knob. Now that I did have because it was useful since there was no such thing as power steering. I always had the type that folded down, that way I never got my fingers or hand wacked when there was a wheel whip.

Those were my days.

HA! Yes I do! In fact, when my son got his first truck a few years ago, I bought him a set as a gag gift for Christmas (can't remember where I even found then) ..., he actually hung them in there for quite sometime... oh, thanks for the laugh, I still can not believe he did that and did not think a thing about it!! I am sure he got a look or two ...

I had some retro fuzzy dice hanging on from my mirror when I was a teenager in the 80s. I never knew that the ones from the 50s and 60s were hand-knit - that's pretty neat. Mine were just stuffed plush from the store.

I was too, and I remember the dice fondly. Unfortunately, by the time I got my driver's license, things on the mirror were kind of on the way out. Also, I used my mother's car and I don't think she would have appreciated my decorating sense of her automobile. She was a product of the Model "T"'s and she would have thought I was just being silly!!! G-d rest her soul. I miss her and her incredibly funny statements....whatever she was thinking is what came out of her mouth. She had no filter.

I don't recall dice .... but, as a kid, I do remember seeing the occasional bobble head doll head bouncing in the back seats of cars .... seemed silly to me, even then.
