New car tomorrow

The lease is up on our car so we had to get a new one. We chose another Buick Enclave because we loved the last one, and we get great discounts from GM due to 1. DH is retired from one of their suppliers so they give us the same discount they give their own retirees and 2. we have a GM rewards card that we have $2400 worth of points on. So all that plus the car he chose is a 2016 so we got a discount for it being a model year old. My DH is so happy , he is like a kid on the day before his birthday. I'm not particularly excited but it is nice to see him so happy with anticipation.Our neighborhood is much like the neighborhoods of the 50's when we were kids. So when we bring this new car home all his buddies will come over and OOO and AHHH over it, and he will just eat that up.

Enjoy your new car AND the new car smell. Getting a new car can be such fun. The interior is spotless and SOOO nice. And it runs like a dream. I hope you have lots of good trips in your new car. Whether to the grocery store or sightseeing. Enjoy.

Congrats to you and DH on your new car! I must admit I am envious!

During my working years, I would "treat" myself every 3 or 4 years to a new car. Since retiring and losing one salary, I haven't been able to get a new car in about 11 years now! My current one just turned over 116,000 miles, so I have got to figure out how to get a newer one - short of stealing it, of course! LOL

When the new car arrives home, all the neighborhood men will assemble before the raised hood and stare at it glassy-eyed. Most probably have no idea what they're looking at. Not a single one will comment on the color or nice upholestry.

Congrats on the new car! I'd be excited too. Cars are so very expensive these days (more than my first house, easily!) and getting a new one is indeed something to both celebrate and be grateful for.

In 2005 we bought a new Saturn Vue, and it was the first new car I'd had since 1986. The two in between were used.

My Saturn is now eleven years old, and while I'd love a new car, we tend to run the wheels off of them. Even our used cars get a decade at least! That is the joy/sorrow of having a husband that is a mechanic! You don't have to buy a new car so often....but you dont' get a new car very often either!

There is nothing like a new cars first trip on a roadway.

I was one of those ladies that named her cars. That was before I was crazy.

I always give the car a name. I had a red Blazer I called Rosy and a navy blue Bonnevile I called Bonnie and a white car I called Blanche. So the old Enclave is Goldie and I have as yet to come up with a name for this car - but these Enclaves are so large they seem to need a boy name - I am considering Clyde, but it is navy with a grey interior which reminds me of the civil war so I am considering Lee or Grant.Or maybe something from gone with the wind like Rhett or Ashley. Of course DH gets the final say.

Regarding naming cars, I've been doing that for years. Our Buick was BUCK and my Impala was DOE. Sadly, a real buck jumped out and hit our BUCK. Haven't come up with a name for our replacement vehicle.

This is just one of those days you are happy you woke up. As soon as he got up this morning DH had an e mail from GM that they were giving him a $1500 rebate for his GM loyalty - GREAT - he called the dealer and it had already been applied, then while we were at the dealer signing the papers the manager walks into the office and says GM just sent him an e mail giving him $500 to randomly pick a customer and give a discount to.We were the only ones there actually buying a car so we got that additional $500.We had to wait an additional hour for them to redo all the paperwork but it was certainly worth that slight inconvenience. And for that hour they let us take our new car for a ride, so we went and had lunch. It was a perfect day for buying a car, and DH is beaming driving it down the road, which warms my heart.

I'm having fun window shopping right now. I might buy before the end of the year but it will more likely be next year.

We did the window shopping thing all summer long knowing we were going to need to buy as soon as we got back from vacation.3 years ago when we leased our first Enclave they offered an insurance policy that would cover any and all things that they may charge you for when you hand in a lease - any dings or nicks - tires gone bald (we had that) scrapes or scratches on the inside. Well, about a month ago we hit a deer and did $3500 of damage which we had repaired and the ins paid for, naturally. Yesterday when we handed in the lease car they ask a lot of questions and one was "is there anything on the carfax" so DH told them about the deer. They told us if we hadn't had that insurance we would have been surcharged by the lease co. for having that car fax out there because it makes it difficult to sell a car once it has been wrecked- even if it was minor. Unfortunately, they no longer offer that insurance so you are on your own.

Congrats on your new car! I never owned a new car. All of mine were used. The last one I bought 1 yr old for $7,999.00 (paid cash) back in 1990. Its a 1989 white pontiac firebird and it's still going strong nearing 27 yrs later.

No lease or loan payments ever, and the insurance couldn't be any lower.

I also don't need or like all the new tech upgrades on the new cars and prefer the simplicity of my Ole Bessy...manual roll up/down windows and all...and it's got a sunroof
