What's the best thing that's happened to you in the last week or so?

My dad has dementia, but today he was "Dad," and we had a warm and wonderful chat. He knew me! It was a miracle of sorts, so I'm flying high! What good things have been happening to you?

I learned that my niece who lives in NYC will be spending the holidays with our family in the Midwest. She hasn't been back for a couple years, so it will be wonderful to spend time with her.

Oh, @libbyannE, this brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful for you. I haven't gone through this yet but I have several close friends who have and it is so heartbreaking. I am giving you a big cyber hug!!!

My grandson stayed with me today and when he wakes up from his nap I always cuddle him and talk to him. I have been telling him what a big boy he is becoming and I don't want him to grow up, I want him to stay my baby. He looked at me said I love you GG, I am GGs baby. Most all the wonderful things that have happened to me in the past couple of years have involved him. I love that little guy so much.

I had a great day with my friends at the gym.We worked hard and went for coffee after.It is so nice to have friends.

Today I had a doctors appointment. While waiting in the office a mother and daughter came in. The daughter was a special Ed child in her teens. I started to talk to her and her mother. The girl put a smile on her face and had many things to tell me. We talked until it was her turn to go in. On her way out she smiled and waved goodby. I felt so good the rest of the day. She was so special.

Hello LibbyAnnE, I remember those really good moments when my DH had dementia and wasn't talking; he was at home in a hospital bed. My little sister and I went into the bedroom and he said COFFEE. We were surprised and trilled to be able to get him his cup of coffee.

I watched my grandson last week. I posted on FB him jumping on his trampoline. So many of my friends responded, it was fun to see what they said and when I need a life I go on my phone and watch it!

I'm having dinner with one of my little sisters. My big brother (77) called and told me he was in love again....Ha!

Yes! I get that now! What this has taught me -- and there is always a positive gift, if you look for it, right?! -- is to be grateful for the day or the moment. I never expected moments of happiness at times like this. Your coffee story really moves me. I am sorry you had to go through that. Any moment if connection with a loved one is a miracle.

we have 2 new puppies. they have been with us 4 weeks now and this after we lost our beloved pomeranian. we didn't think we would get over the loss and were grieving.

these little girls light up our lives now in ways we never thought we would experience again. now, how do we house train these girls? they are long haired chihuahuas and really not getting it! i called a dog trainer and she said get a lot of sleep and take your vitamins. it's going to be hard work!

Not exactly to me but to a little girl, from a financially challenged and (I think) broken family. Every weekend for the past year her grandma brings her to the rink to skate. They can't afford lessons but I try to help her when I can.

There was a drawing at the rink for free ice skating for 1 year and her name was pulled out of the jar. I was also allowed to give her a free lesson and she can take a short set of group lessons too at no charge.

And ALL of us that work there were just over the moon because we know how much this means to them. Nobody more deserving could have been picked.

I just thought that the universe worked most wonderfully in this case.

Good for you! You cannot replace the ones you lose, but reaching out for more love and helping an animal at the same time -- or, TWO in your case!-- puts you back on a positive track, doesn't it! I know many of us have been there. Your " little girls" sound line handful.-- of joy!

Your story gave me a head-to-toe chill, which is always a sign from spirit that something is sooooo right. As you say, it's no accident that THAT special girl won the drawing! And was the benefit also meant to give her grandma a smile and a bit of a financial break? How good you have been to step in and help!

I'm glad that you have those special moments with your dear dad.

As for me, my yearly mammogram just came back clear. (I had breast cancer 7 years ago this month).
