IN 2013 we purchased a expensive Samsung refrigerator from HH Gregg. SOmething told me to buy the extended warranty. I NEVER buy extended warranties but this time I did. WIthin the first year they had to replace the entire electronic control panel. YEar two some Part went bad and another repair costing $500 which was covered under the extended warranty. EArlier this week my ice maker ceased to function. I called the HH Gregg customer service line. THey said they had to find a service provider in my area and would get back to me within two days. I just called them back and they still have not found a service provider to do the service call. WHAT??? THey sell the warranty but they don t have a network of service providers to call on? THe woman I spoke to said "We will find someone to,do the work but sometimes it takes a longer period to locate someone."

That's typical from HH Gregg. At least that's what I've been told from others that has purchased anything from that store. From what I've heard, I wouldn't buy a key chain from HH Gregg, let alone an applicance.

My refrigerator is pretty old but most reviews about new refrigerators - online and family members - aren't very good. It's terrible, as much as a new fridge costs.

Many times the warranty companies sub out the work and then it may take a long time for the repair company to get paid. Then they won't work for the the warranty company any longer. Please remember the warranty company didn't tell you they won't fix it, they are having trouble finding someone. I know it's really frustrating, but try to get through this knowing it's not the worst thing that could happen. Good luck.

My guess is this is more of a problem with HH Gregg than Samsung. Granted that fridge sounds like a lemon but the problem with getting someone to service it is a problem with HH Gregg.

Samsung clothes washers and smartphones (S7) are "exploding" .... so it is no surprise concerning control board issues with their refrigerator.

Thank you for warning consumers, and sorry for your bad experience with this brand. I had the same experence with two GE refrigerators .... sadly, quality is long gone with most appliance brands.

I asked the woman that and even gave her the name of the company that did the first two repairs. HEr response was that she would provide that information to the dept that finds the service provider.

Sorry you are having to deal with this problem.

We have never bought an extended warranty either.

Since something told you to buy the extended warranty you should have bought a different refrigerator instead. Sounds like you got stuck with a lemon if it has to keep being worked on. I would not be very happy.

If I were ever to be in the market for a new washer and dryer again (which I won't be), I would get Kenmore or LG. The washer would be A TOP LOADER. I think they have finally realized that front load washers are extremely inefficient and even unsanitary.

A couple years ago i was at Lowe's looking at appliances there was a couple looking at refrigerators. We just got to chatting. They were looking at replacing a fridge. I asked how old, they said 3 yrs old. Then I asked what brand, Samsung. They went on to tell me what went wrong. It was almost what you described. they were looking at fridge's, but quickly by-passing all Samsung's models.

I feel your pain OP but in our case it was a local store and a Samsung dishwasher. Long story short, we had to buy another dishwasher.

I think Samsung still makes good TVs. But it sounds like their major appliances and phones are sketchy.

We had our 12+ year old Kenmore fridge repaired last Spring. The repairman said if you decide to replace this fridge DONOT buy a Samsung,they're junk. He said he sees them all and that's the worst.

Read LilacTree's post on washing machines: top loaders work best for me.

Regardless of which brand you're looking at, check reviews because the one I got for FL makes a old horrible sound ( like someone gasping for air with a hoarse voice ).

When I called their customer service hotline, I was told the next model up was much quieter. Evidently LOWES only cared about making a sale...they could have sold a more expensive model to us!

We are not brand loyal about appliances. All of our appliance are 8 years old (when we built our home) and I have to tell you we have had a problem (s) with everyone of them. Some have already been replaced! ALL were Consumer Reports top rated.

I will say HH GREGG is the worse!! I agree with PP I would not buy a key ring there.

Start calling everyday and if they can not the terms of warranty they can either replace your appliance free or return the cost of the extended warrenty. Trust me they will agree if you make their life difficult. ;-) Do NOT let this go.

I purchased Samsung everything for my new home, from appliances to TV. It's been 9 1/2 months and so everything is still working great. I purchased the appliances at Home Depot. I hope I don't have any problems.

I've not heard of that store, or website - whatever it is, but I'm sorry you had to deal with that. It's always disheartening to have to end up majorly disappointed, but especially when you spend that kind of money.

we have bought a number of appliances from HHGREGG in the past three years.......washer, dryer, gas cooktop, and an oven. we never buy THEIR extended warranty, but we do have a whole house policy via our gas and electric company which has been well worth it. they have even come out to service our 18 year old refrigerator several times this year (i have been putting off getting a new one, but it will happen soon.)
