How do you feel about leaf blowers?

The leaves are falling once again and the leaf blowers are out in full force. I don't like them for many reasons. The dust they create is dangerous to our health! The blowers stir up things like bird and rodent droppings, mold, bacteria...and other gross things like pesticides and herbicides. The noise is another thing!

I don't go outside if any of my neighbors are using their blowers. Wish these leaf blowers become banned one day.

They are a blesing for people who hve had heart surgery, and heart attacks. Raking is very demanding on your heart

I don't like them for the reasons you state but I understand that they make clean up easier for some people. The dust and mold and all the junk makes me cough for the next several days. I rake instead. Well, after I mow the majority of them into mulch.

But the reason I don't like them the most is that a neighbor uses one to blow all the leaves from his yard into the side of my house.

Your apparent 'concerns' about damage from a leaf blower.....leaves me speechless! Rake an acres with a rake and you might change your opinion.

They're necessary where I live.

I make sure the windows are always closed so none of the dust comes into the house.

I'm pretty sure when you are raking the leaves the same stuff is being stirred up too...

Hate them at 6 am on a Sunday morning. Hate some of them that are REALLY loud. When I hear them from a distance, however, I find them kinda comforting as it means "Fall is here".

Go figure, lol.

We wear mask when we use leaf blowers and I believe everyone should.

Lawn mowers stir up all these bad things too. I was sitting on my front porch a couple of days ago and the neighbors lawn care guy was mowing with one of those fast no turn mowers and dust was flying so bad I had to come inside.

I sure hope we don't have to give up leaf blowers as it sure helps keep porches and walks clean without having to sweep. We have a long walk and driveway so it helps.

I use my lawnmower with a catcher to remove leaves. Raking sometimes and this does not creat the dust a blower creates...no way.

There is a guy across the water from us who, I swear, spends all afternoon blowing one leaf at a time down his driveway!

We bought the most powerful backpack style model we could find. 200 mile an hour blast of wind that even scoots wet leaves. Great for cleaning gutters too. Love it.

I got one neighbor like that too. He blows his stuff across the cul-de-sac into my gutter!

I wear a mask now when I do the mowing and raking. It is certainly true that both of those and blowers stir up a lot of ****** that can make trouble if you're sensitive to all that ******.

We had such a dry fall that every time I mowed a whole lotta dust was flying around.

Hack, cough, sneeze (if I didn't wear a mask). And it stinks wearing a mask when it's hot outside. You just can't win.

Out here most people don't have grass yards. Instead we have rock yards which makes a leaf blower necessary. Try raking leaves and pine needles on rock.

I understand there are pros & cons to everything and empathize with your concerns. However, I must say that we use a small electric leaf blower for touch-up work and for blowing light snow off the walks & driveway. We both have bad back problems and that little $30 blower from Aldi helps us be independent in getting minor yard jobs done quickly and painlessly. It is easier on the back and the heart. There is a neighborhood association that takes care of the major work so we just need to address minor clean-up and always do it during reasonable hours. I am grateful for that little machine!

We use one with the bag attachment to get at the leaves that fall into the crevices along the walk and the patio.

Ear plugs, safety goggles should be used. And a respiratory mask if dealing with dirt to protect against such things as animal droppings and pesticides/herbicides.

We rake our leaves otherwise and dump them into our organic bin. Luckily our area has green organic bins for leaves, branches, etc. that it put out with our recycle bin every week.
