We're redecorating our bedroom right now and are looking for some new blankets. We live where it gets extremely frigid, so we need warmth. We already have down blankets & comforters, heated blankets, wool blankets, cotton blankets, heated mattress pads, etc., but neither of us really like them.

We are the type who would rather pile up several lighter blankets than have one bulky one over us. We really like the polar fleece sheets and the one fleece blanket that we have. I see some new things out there. Has anyone tried the blankets that are fleece on one side and sherpa on the other? I think it is two separate layers. Just wondering if they would tend to pull apart when washing them? Also, I see fleece/berber blankets. Any experience with those...or any recommendations for any really nice thick, lush fleece blankets? Thanks so much!

I also layer. Personally I like santeen sheets now, better than fleece or flannal. For years I only slept on flannel though, year round. So in winter I layer but I no longer change to heavier sheets.

I buy my blankets at Costco because the quality is excellent as is the price. I have down throw blankets that I think are microfiber on one side. I love the faux fur ones that I bought at Costco. I layer mixing my down comforter, flannel duvet and faux fur blankets. I only have one that's sherpa on one side and it's a kids blanket set that we bought for the dog. The cats like too but we don't use it ourselves. It washes fine.

I bought the German flannel blanket from Cuddledown's site a few months ago, based on recommendations here. It's on our guestbed so I haven't tried it, but I was pleased with the quality and weight of it. I believe they're doing 20% off this weekend. Ends today. Free shipping also...

maybe.

We have H205239 fair isle fleece/ sherpa blanket. Bought it last year or maybe the year before. Only used it for a couple months at the end of the season last year. We love it, it is plenty warm on top of the polar fleece sheets. It hasn't been washed yet. I just put it on yesterday again. Tag says cold water wash, air or line dry. It is very thick, so probably will take awhile to dry. Maybe this was a throw, it isn't real wide.

We really like the Malden Mills polar fleece blankets. I also love the Dennis Basso faux fur throws . they are oversized, washable and feel light on top of you. I have one serpa/faux suede blanket that I purchased years ago from QVC. The layers have not seperated but it was seemed in three panels. I think that makes a difference in this type of blanket. I have two Dennis Basso faux fur bedstpreads which are very warm yet don't feel heavy on the body. They wash and dry well.

I've purchased a few blankets/throws from LL Bean and have had good luck with those.

I too am NOT the one for one heavy blanket on the bed. Can not take the weight of heavy blankets, so I do layer my blankets.

The blankets I get are at walmart. They are the Mainstay brand, which I believe is Walmart brand. The blanket is 100% polyester.

These blankets are easy to wash and dry in dryer. Come in a variety of colors. I have a queen bed, and get the full/queen brand size and plenty of overhang on mattress.

they are lightweight and you can pile several on the bed without the weight. I have used these blankets for several yrs only kind i purchase when i need to replace the blanket.

We live in the mountains so pile on the blankets in the Winter. Our current favorite is Costco lightweight velour (looks like it's woven strips of velour). It is generously sized and around $40.

The winter version is very warm. I also like the look of them on the bed.

I'm still using USA milled and made Fieldcrest cotton version.

Yes, we love our fleece sheets, too. We have always used euro-style down duvets with washable covers. They are warm yet lightweight. Then I fold an extra blanket-- usually one of our collectible colorful Pendleton ones -- over the foot of the bed to be pulled up as needed. I sometimes trade off with a double-sided reversible fleece blanket, instead, which is quite warm. We have always kept our home cool in winter because we don't like to bake in a hot house. I would rather layer clothing and bedding to control how we feel. Our winter thermostat is at about 59-60 at night and 64 tops during the day. We suffer in other people's hot homes. When I am st my mother's in the winter, I wear capris and to shirts and light summer nightgowns.

Someone mentioned a down comforter. I know that people are unaware of how down is collected or they would never ever purchase it. I will not subject you to the details (you can find videos on you tube that graphically show the disturbingly vivid horrid nightmare that takes place). I'm just letting you know that the down in your comforter came with a great price of unbearable pain/death to a sentient being. I am not judging ....I too coveted down before my eyes were opened to the truth.
